These reports from The Sabine Index are good examples of the reliable information sources that Sabine (and surrounding parish and county) minerals owners can access at no charge. Anyone can walk into the Sabine, or any other, clerk of court office and review the Day Book. State mineral auctions are another reliable source with the added advantage that bonus bids are included in the public record. As these are public record documents, they are vastly superior to rumors, Internet reports and posts to public websites. Coupled with the news releases and regular quarterly and year end reports of the publicly traded major shale players, they are the basis for the most reliable information on localized development activity and overall industry trends.
Skip, for an up to date and current list of filings Coreley's Abstract provides a very detailed list (monthly, I think) for a small fee - located on Main Street in Many near the court house. The past printout has many leases to CHK for under the Toledo Bend Lake property (Ebarb area)
Can you post contact info for Corley's Abstract for the members who may be interested, Shaleeee? And the amount of the small fee? I use a remote Clerk of Court account but I doubt many members would care to spend the $100+/month.
That is interesting as Chesapeake filed some recent leases in Sabine County along with two new permits. Staking their claim to some Southern Haynesville/Bossier acreage. Good to see.
The play will develop to pendleton bridge area and sweep across the lake to Sabine County.IMO!
Corley's Abstract And Title Search - 930 Main St. Many, LA ( do not confuse with San Antonio Ave - which runs through town)- 256-9624 - I do not know the fee but last I heard was about $8 a month and that has been a while and may even be wrong - sorry - a friend shares his with me. Call their office
Thanks, Shaleee. $8/month is a small price to pay for that information.
Of interest is that last week and this week the Clerk of Court and every nook and cranny in the the Sabine Parish Court House has been flooded with landmen. There are 3 offices for operators located in Many now - CHK and Encanna and I can not remember the 3rd but think it is Petrohawk. Will check on that next week.
The Sabine Clerk's record room was packed 8 months ago when I was there last. The specific question is, who is leasing and where? That information is contained in the Day Book. Sabine is a large parish. And all those landmen could be working on a limited number of sections in one or two townships. A high level of activity does not necessarily translate to an interest in the whole parish. The details are important.
Ahhhh, the perpetually half empty cup. After reading some of these posts I wonder if there really is any gas down there at all outside of Desoto of course.
You are right - I think the area they are interested in is the northern Sabine Parish and western area (Lake Area). Talk is that there is increased interest in area east of Hwy 191 - north of Hwy 6W to Many. You know how it goes someone hears something and it grows wings. I have doubt about this one given the map of the core area.
Shaleeee, I think Alongview was making light of some earlier post. Township 7 will continue to be developed...hopefully all of it. Who knows....it could be the "MOTHERLOAD"
