Les, we have had seismic tests in our area a couple years ago and have old low-producing Hosston wells in Sec 2&3 of T17N-8W. Don't know the seismic results. I have a few questions (hope they are not too ignorant).
1. Are seismic results always held confidential from the landowners?
2. Is there any information available elsewhere as to whether Haynesville or Bossier shale is present in my area? Or how close known HA shale is?
3. Would any HA shale be HBP just because of the production from the shallower wells?

Thanks for any help.
Cal,

1) My understanding is the results are not provided to land owners unless specifically required under the lease agreement (or other agreement).

2) There are twelve (12) Haynesville Units and two (2) permitted Haynesville Shale wells in T17N-R9W with one well location ~ 12 miles west of your location. Neither well has actually been drilled so there has not been sufficient information to clearly understand the limits of the Haynesville Shale to the northeast. The productive area of the Bossier Shale is not as extensive and has a lower probability of extending into your area.

3) It depends on the terms of your lease agreement. Most agreements state that any producing well on your lease (or in a unit that includes your lease) will hold all depths (formations) as long as the well produces in paying quantities. So a shallow producing well could hold some Haynesville Shale rights in a section but maybe not all the section dependent upon the specific situation.

By the way, there is no such thing as an ignorant question.
Thanks Les -- I know some of the leases (one recently expired) had some kind of depth clause but am unsure about these older wells, so they probably do not. --appreciate your help.
Mr. Les B,

Did I ask a question that was stupid? I was hoping you would help me understand and update anything you might know on the status of this well and if pooling like this means a pipeline from section 6? I have no idea, did I phrase it wrong? Sorry if I did....
Lynn, please see above for response. Your question was fine and welcome but sometimes I do not see questions for a few days.

The Lithium Connection to Shale Drilling
