Forced Pooling by Goodrich in Longwood/Blanchard area

A letter was received today in regards to land that was leased 8 months short of 3 years ago to Winchester.
It was a pre-application notice, regarding forced pooling of several area residents. The zones are listed as Haynesville Zone, Reservoir A, Longwood Field and Cotton Valley Formation, Reservoir A, Longwood Field, Caddo Parish (between R16W, R15W and T19N, T18N) This is a blatant attempt to "tie up" these properties and prevent residents from receiving their profits from Haynesville Shale discovery.
The letter is being sent to the Commissioner of Conservation, James Welsh and Jim Broussard.
Other interested land owners names and addresses were not given.
Do I have any say or any recourse in this matter?

Doesn't the Commissioner of Conservation have to approve this kind of pooling? How could he approve something like this if there isn't even a Haynesville Shale well in the area being pooled? What are they thinking? Are they trying to combine the Cotton Valley with the Haynesville Shale how is that possible? Maybe they are just trying to hold leases with out having to renegotiate the bonus or royalties percentage. I could see it if they had drilled a Haynesville Shale well.
You might find this link very interesting as per above discussion. "Are they trying to combine the Cotton Valley with the Haynesville Shale how is that possible?"
Ross, the letter described was a pre-application notice which is required by state regulation. There has been no approval since there has been no application. Companies almost always apply for a unit before drilling a well since this provides the basis for determining the working interests in the well.
V, you need to provide more information to clarify whether these are separate units being formed for the Haynesville Zone and Cotton Valley Formation. There is not enough in your original description to support your statements. Force pooling is a normal part of the unitization process. It does not keep a mineral owner from leasing or sharing in the profits.
Shalelover, did the letter say the hearing or the prehearing will not be held. The later is consistent with Louisiana regulation.
