An energy pipeline worker was killed in Panola County, Texas, this afternoon when a blowout caused a section of pipe to hit him.

Workers were pressure-testing a new section of the pipeline that is being built near Carthage when the explosion occurred, said Panola County Chief Deputy Sheriff David Jeter.

A section of the pipeline was thrown and hit the worker, killing him, Jeter said.

Killed was Hector Tarango, 36, of Hennessey, Okla.

Tarango worked for Willbros Pipeline Co. Tarango's father and brother also work for Willbros and were at the scene of the accident, Jeter said.

The accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. off County Road 403.
Our condolence go out to his family. I fear that with all of the drilling activity in our area we will be hearing more news like this.
tragic, my prayers as many others are with his family at this time.
