I recently bought a house on an acre plot off Sligo Road. Does anyone know who I need to contact to find out if the previous owners had already leased the mineral rights?

check you deed to see if the minerals were reserved. check with the clerk of courts office.
You can contact any of the companies and they will do the research for you.
I bought my property in Elm Grove about 9 months ago, previous owner told me they had received letters but never did anything with them (no leases signed). I spoke with a couple of companies and they said I did have the mineral rights then I go to a neighborhood meeting and find out from a company that the previous owner did infact sign a lease. The lease will expire next year, but the company said I could go ahead and sign and the lease would take affect once the previous lease expires. They would pay a small percentage of the bonus money now and the rest when the new lease goes into affect. Don't know what happens if there is production before old lease expires.
Thanks, I will contact a company. That is what I am afraid may have happened here. My contract says I have the mineral rights, but a neighbor told me she thought the previous owners did sign a contract. Thanks again.
Check with a lawyer to be sure. If the previous owner signed a lease or not, and did not retain the mineral rights in the contract then you should own the mineral rights as well as the land.
