Jed,
Great info, thanks.
Looks like it may not be too long before we can start to see where the shale goes in Bienville and maybe Webster as they continue to spread out.
What part of Bienville you in Bird Dawg?
Jed,
Alabama Bend field, west of Ringold.
My question is why the oil/gas company is going to force pool these tracts. I don't understand why they just don't lease these guys. Is this because these owners would not lease?
Landowner,
I'm not sure but I would think that a considerable portion of each unit is leased. And they have intentions of trying to lease all they can in each unit. Otherise it would make no sense for them to drill.
Landowner, the applicant would need to force pool even if 100% of the acreage is leased especially if leased to more than one company. So not necessarily always related to unleased mineral interest.
I guess I really don't understand force pool. I thought it meant that if you were not leased then you were forced into a group that was drilling. What does force pooling do? I know there were discussing early on and I guess I didn't read them too close. I didn't realize I could be a part of foce pooling.
Landowner, force pooling can accomplish several things. It unitizes (pools) all the acreage in a section whether leased or unleased. This allows the participation interest for each tract (lease) within the unit to be calculated. This insures all tracts can participate in the production from every well in the unit without regard to the actual location of the well. Normally it establishes the operator for the unit with the other owners being non-operators. It establishes certain spacing requirements from section lines and other wells. As KB stated it allows a horizontal lateral to be drilled under any tract within the unit. It allows drilling to proceed so mineral owners can begin receiving any benefits - assuming the well is productive.
I leased 80 acres to Petrohawk in Section 1 T16N R10W. I hope Chesapeake hits a monster well!!
Jed,
I think your in a great spot!
