House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources: Oversight Hearing on "Unconventional Fuels, Part I: Shale Gas Potential"

Just heard about this hearing tomorrow - so I think I'll head into DC to cover this. I think I'll probably twitter during the hearing - I may try to start a discussion too, but this platform is a bit tricky with the iPhone.

I'll be interested to see what is said regarding federal oversight of hydraulic fracturing.

Rep. Borel's going after Appleton. "Appleton is going after a problem that doesn't exist"
Rep Borel is going after his own caucus - "sick and tired of people in his own caucus going after oil and gas, who employ people in his district"
Sorry but the Chesapeake guy lacks answers to some basic questions like "what type of effect would the proposed federal reg of hydraulic frac have on the ability to extract gas?" his answer in summary - "we believe it would have a great impact blah blah blah..." We need a better defense than this.
He's either not prepped or doesn't want to give answers...why even show up?
For crying out loud - the shadow rep from America Samoa gets to ask questions before Rep Fleming
Rep Gohlmert (TX) states "we don't need a one size fits all solution"

Told Appleton he didn't get the memo that it is now "climate change" and not global warming.
Congressman Fleming entered into the record the h shale economic impact report

- Every time projections come out they grow
Doing my Meg Ryan here ... difficult to argue with those numbers! That study came along just in time.
Final word from the Chair - "seriously considering" bringing together states with shale to see if there is a gold standard for best drilling practices
