This study was started by the TX RR Commission to test the viability of recycling frac water at the drilling sites. Sounds reasonable, and feasible, to me.

Looks like a good deal. Holding tanks wouldn't have be high pressure vessels. Kind of like a big still. Probably got the idea from moonshiners. What works, works.
Distilling the frac water would be a start, there may be room for improvement, don't know. It's certainly better than draining the aquifers.
