I was encouraged until I read that the wells were in South Texas.  Marathon hasn't drilled a LA well since 2007.

The technique for fracturing horizontal laterals was developed and perfected in Texas from all accounts. The powers that be think the same thing will work on the Austin Chalk formation in Louisiana. They are probably right. The more acreage you own in Louisiana, the more right they are...

Well, for all the hopes and dreams for a good well, the answer is blowin' in the wind.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
