FRUSTRATION, CONFUSION, AND MORE QUESTIONS!!!-MANSFIELD, LA-S 15, T 12N, R13W-Newbie Here!!!

My extended family and I are extremely confused by conflicting information we are getting about what Chesapeake is currently doing and what their future plans are for the land they leased from all of us.

So, I am here looking for HELP for ALL OF US!!! Our land is located in Mansfield, LA (Desoto Parish) along Binning Road. The specifics of our property are S 15, T 12N, R13W.

Les B. and Henry were kind enough to look up information for us on Sonris. We are still unable to make "heads or tails" out of the Sonris information or the Sonris website. We have tried and it is like attempting to read Greek or Latin or some foreign language that none of us know!

So, with apologies and many thanks in advance, we are here again asking for any information someone might have.

Henry and Les B. discovered that there was a Chesapeake Well located in Section 22 named Hughes 15 #H1 Well, Serial #242374, S22(15)-T12N-R13W that would drain S 15, T 12N, R13W, our land. Henry noted that drilling began on 12/1/2010 and total depth was reached at the end of 12/2010. Sonris, Henry noted, did not show that the well had been completed yet though.

People "on the ground" have told us conflicting information so we seriously feel like we have absolutely no idea what is really going on. We have several people telling us that there is a Chesapeake rig/well actually ON Section 15 that will began production any day now and will be a HIGH or very, very good producing well. Then we have other people "on the ground" telling us that Chesapeake is pulling out of Section 15 and the surrounding sections and moving all of their rigs and equipment to some of the Northern states, and they will not be back in our area in Desoto Parish, Louisiana until next Spring!

I have read the articles in the New York Times concerning Obama's and the EPA wanting new regulations and additional full disclosure on the chemicals used in the "Fracturing/or Fracing" process, the "Halliburton Loophole" which claims that the specific chemical mixture used by each shale drilling company is their private and proprietary information and is therefore protected from disclosure as per the "Halliburton Loophole". Although the last article I read indicated that Obama planned to abolish the "Halliburton Loophole" thereby forcing the shale drilling companies to fully disclose all of the chemicals used in the Fracing Process, the Fracing Water, how much gas is released/lost prior to it being captured by the pipeline, etc. One NY Times article does indicate large areas of shale gas in several Northern states!

Any, and all, information (even rumors that can be compared and we will attempt to verify or deny, and then post what we find out on this forum!) will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! We wish we could understand the Sonris website and apologize in advance for having to ask these additional questions.

This is a wonderful forum for discussion!!! If we continue to share information openly here and create as much transparency as is possible concerning the leasing and drilling activities of the companies working in our area, I believe we will all be better informed about what is truly taking place where we live and work!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU, IN ADVANCE, FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE!!!

JC,

According to sonris, there is no permitted Haynesville well whose surface location is in Section 15 of 12N-13W.  If you are leased to CHK, why not call their call center, in Oklahoma, and see what they can tell you.  Go to CHK's web site, and you will see the toll-free number.

Thank you, Henry! You are always SO helpful and I really appreciate it!

I found a telephone # for CHK in Oklahoma --- 405-935-4966. I also found several telephone numbers for CHK in Shreveport as well. I'll give them a call today, see what they say, and post the information they give me on here, if I'm able to get any information!  JC

You can try 877-CHK-1GAS.  That is their toll-free number I found on their web site.

And, if all else fails, make friends with Katie McCullen on this site.  She will get your phone call returned from CHK.  A number of people on this site have found her to be very helpful.

Glenn here, Section 3, T 15N R 14W in DeSoto, a few miles north of Stonewall.  Chesapeake has bought the only 2 wells I know of in our section, one from Camterra, and one from Empressa.  I am not sure Empressa is still in business, or at lest they are not operating around here any longer, and have not for some time.  The well on our property was drilled by Empressa, and is a Cotton Valley formation.  The other one was drilled by Camterra, and is a Haynesville Shale.  The well on our property never did do very well, but the other one in our section was a good producer.  Chesapeake shut ours in well over a year ago, and then shut the Haynesville in about 7 or 8 months ago.  About that same time they also shut in several other wells just South of us.  No one from Chesapeake has ever told us why.  The rumor was the pipelines were not large enough to get all the gas out.  That is strange, because up until the time they shut them in the lines were capable of getting it out.  No other wells have been drilled anywhere around us since that time.  So I don't really believe that rumor.

Now, just recently I hear another that either or both Camterra and/or Empressa did not permit the pipelines, and Chesapeake bought all the pipelines and were told they would have to pay for the permits, and they said they should't have to pay for that and now it is possibly in court.  So I do not have any idea what to believe.  All I know both wells in our section are shut down, and there is no drilling going on anywhere around us.  Also, early last year there was a 42 inch line supposed to come through a relative's property, was to start in June 2010, and now it is August 2011 and nothing has happened.  In fact all the stakes laying out the line have rotted and fallen down.  And early this year they bought a right of way on my property for a line that was to start immediately.  Thus far nothing has even been staked out.  I just wish I had a clue as to what their plans are, if they even have any plans.  You would think they were developing the Atomic bomb they way they operate so secretely.

JC, all the information "on the ground" could be partially true.  It is possible that Chesapeake has activity in close proximity to Section 15 such as well fracture treatment, running production, etc that could be mistaken to be a drilling rig.

Chesapeake has drilled a well in every operated section in T12N-R13W and likely will shortly have all these wells on production meaning all the leased acreage will be held.  Chesapeake has indicated they intend to significantly reduce their drilling activity in the Haynesville Shale by the end of the year and shift rigs to "oilier" plays in Oklahoma and Ohio.

JC, Maybe they driledl in Sec 22 and bottomhole is in 15 so 15 owners would get royalties? In our case, the operator did a Farmout Agreement, drilled in Section 7, but the bottomhole was in 6 so the sec 6 owners received the royalties. Guess that's another idea! Gosh, if Skip and Les and Henry don't know, good luck!!!

CB, that was the information I originally provided to JC.  The subsequent post was concerning people's believe that a rig was currently located in Section 15.

Chesapeake, Hughes 15 #H1 Well, Serial #242374, S22(15)-T12N-R13W

Concerning Hughes Well on Binning Road--S15-T12N R13W ----I sent an inquiry to Chesapeake and the email I received back from Production said that the well production start date was 6/24/2011.  About 4 months after that which will be about 10/24/2011 we (land owners) should be receiving the Division Orders. After we sign the Division Orders and return them, it will be approximately 2 months before the first royalty checks are mailed.

I have been trying to find something out for a while so now I am happy to share this news with others on this website.
