The term, midsteam, refers to pipeline systems or companies that connect production from wells or localized gathering systems to long distance transmission pipeline systems.  They also provide compression and treatment services to make gas or liquids meet pipeline requirements.

Ken, LMGS is (was?) a Chesapeake affiliate that installed gas gathering systems for production in northwest Louisiana.  Services provided likely included gas treating and gas compression in addition to the natural gas transportation to downstream pipelines.

According to what they told me a bit over a year ago, they are a wholly owned subsidiary of Chesapeake and provide pipeline services, etc., to Chesapeake wells.  If they are approaching you about putting any type of pipeline, gathering line, etc across your property, get thee to an o&g attorney asap.
