I have some Mineral rights interest in this survey that someone contacted me about buying. I'm trying to find where this survey might be located. It is called Ransom Wheeler Survey Abstract 782 Shelby County.

They offered to buy out my brothes and sister mineral rights, which is only a small fraction like 1/6 of 1/8 of the 112 acreas for a little over $8000.00 total.
I found it interesting to see "Ransom Wheeler" name, he was my great grandmothers uncle, along with about 10 more Wheeler brothers. We might be related, if your family kept these minerals from way back. Did you and your brothers and sisters know about these minerals before you got a letter from an interested buyer? For your information, letters from these kind of people are being mailed out like "junk mail", and it has not just started. I have letters like these, and letters ask if I would like to sell my timber, all the time. Most of these people, are going to try to trick you out of something. Some may even go as far as to send a check with their offer. But, you would not be able to cash it.
And, about you not knowing if you interest was leased already. Sometimes, if they can not find you, they will just hold any moneys due to you, in an account until you show up. Or they locate you. I have a cousin, with mineral interest, that no one can find.
I just found this site and am very interested in the Ransom Wheeler survey. In fact, Ransom Wheeler was my grandfathers uncle. I have a picture of Ransom Wheeler with all the brothers and their mother. I do have mineral interest in this survey and am always getting offers to sell, but I have no interest in selling.
Are your mineral interests leased?
Yes, have been for several years.
This info. is from the TRRC. drilling report. This well shows to be in the R. Wheeler Survey, A-781. If you don't already know it, I think this well is in your unit.

Stockman, South (Pettit) Field will see production as XTO drills Thomas Gas Unit Well 2. It is 10.6 miles southeast of Center and will hit 15,000 feet. The well is in the Wheeler, R Survey, A-781. It may be drilled in a wildcat field, Stockman (Cotton Valley) Field, or the Stockman, South (Travis Peak) Field.
Jim Krow's analysis of Dec 12 is reasonable...if that is the interest you and your siblings own $8000 is a decent beginning offer but I can likely make you a better offer...I am in the oil and gas business and have interests in Shelby County....if you would like to discuss further please reply and we can arrange to talk
