XTO was the last major operator to drill in Shelby County. They have several permits in the county but they have moved their rigs to Panola now. I expect they will be back in our area later in the year. Chesapeake has not drilled in Shelby (nor in Sabine & San Augustine) since they finished up the Jackson SLB #1H in late 2012. I don't look for them to come back any time soon. There are no rigs working in Shelby right now.

Anadarko is very busy in Panola Co. with an occasional foray into Rusk Co. but they don't have any permits in Shelby. Where are your minerals located?

I'm not trying to be dumb, but it is on the line between Shelby and Panola, I believe NE corner. I'll get you the exact site as soon as I can. I don't understand all this giddy up go stuff and then they don't do a thing with the land. It was not but 29 acres we have. I guess everyone's in a hurry to make money, I just ain't too optimistic on this and from what the landman says it would be a deep well. Over 500 ft., I will be glad if it picks up again. I might be just a little old dumb lady but I can count money just as fast as anyone else. Please let me know what u hear.i talked to the tax man in Shelby and he said the only one running permits is Chesapeake. I used to have some stock in Frontier oil a long time ago. Keep me in the loop if everyone would. Thanks so much for taken time for me. I give u the exact markers later today. The wells the have dug, are they exceptionally deep? Anyone know?

So, you are in the Joaquin area? There are quite a few wells up there but they are (mostly) not Haynesville Shale wells. Goodrich and Classic both drilled producing shale wells up there but I suspect they were not economic (meaning they cost more to drill than they will ever produce). I believe Classic drilled a couple of horizontal Cotton Valley wells up there, as well, but I don't have any data on them.

Yes, very deep... way over 500 ft. We are talking over 10,000' for Cotton Valley and deeper for Haynesville.

Keep us posted if you hear any more about Anadarko in this area.

This is my information I was telling you about from Anadarko
21 acres more or less, consisting of 12 acre tract situated in the Alexander Cameron Survey, A-110 and a 9 acre tract situated in the RJ JOHNSON SURVEY, A-387, Shelby County and being described as FIRST AND SECOND TRACT in that Warranty Deed dated Dec 19, 1955 from William Harlon Eakins and Wife, Gloria Eskin to GW Youngblood, recorded in Volume 347, page 567 of the deed records of SHELBY COUNTY. We also own 60 acres in Tennesee Community which no one has shown interest in. We do a little lumber up there. Dixon has this one out of Tyler. Landman seems somewhat helpful and a real nice fella. I'm willing to share what I know. Some people up there got 625k in leases but don't seem to want to help u out. I'm not asking for a loan just some guidance on what to expect. We got a lawyer to handle the legalese. I made a mistake when I said 500 feet, I meant to say 5000 or more feet.

Those surveys are in the northwest corner between Timpson and the county line. It will be interesting to see what comes from leases in this area. There hasn't been any drilling in that part of the county in a several years.

Just in case you have not found it yet... you can join the Shelby County Group and if you will post questions specific to that county on that page you will find other mineral owners who may have a similar area of interest. We're a fairly friendly bunch so don't worry about sounding "dumb". Most of us land & mineral owners have been there, too, and this is the place to find answers. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
