The approach in shale reservoirs will continue to be refined and improve so I personally expect it to become a more routine part of (re)completion programs.

Re-fracing has been around for a long time in vertical wells where the process is relatively simple and low cost.  Re-fracing horizontal wells is a whole different ball game and a recent development.  E&P companies have just started mentioning it publicly in the last few months.  The technology is evolving and the results are varied as should be expected.  Hopefully EXCO and EnCana will have more to say concerning results in their Haynesville Shale re-fracs in their upcoming corporate presentations.
