T. Boone Gets Ready For His Million-Megawatt March
By Chris Vogel in Cover Story, Environment, Political AnimalsTuesday, Mar. 31 2009 @ 2:16PM
General T. Boone Pickens is invading Washington, D.C. tomorrow. Well, virtually.

Members of his New Energy Army, numbering somewhere between 1.5 and 3 million strong, are planning to bombard Congress with emails and phone calls urging lawmakers to pass legislation favorable to Pickens' plan to use less foreign oil and more wind power and natural gas. The three day campaign on Capitol Hill will last through Friday and Pickens' troops are getting keyed up.

"It's going to be a lot of fun to see what happens over the next few days," says Jordan Birden, the Pickens' army representative at Texas A&M who grew up just north of Houston.

Birden tells Hair Balls he's been contacting hundreds of people over social networking websites for the past few weeks urging them to take action this week. As for his part, Birden says not only will he email Texas senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, but he will also call their offices in Washington, D.C.

"I was sitting there thinking about this the other day," he says, "and if these senate offices all of a sudden get 50,000 or more phone calls in one day, they're not going to know what to do with themselves."

Which is exactly the point. Pickens and numerous corporate sponsors for the event, including American Electric Power, the American Wind Energy Association and Chesapeake Energy, all have a stake in making sure lawmakers give a helping hand to wind energy and natural gas. Pickens himself will reportedly be in Washington lobbying as well.

The event has been in the works for about a month. Birden says the anticipation is killing him.

"There's been so much build-up," he says. "An tomorrow, once the bombs drop, it's going to be kinda fun to sit there and watch."

Get her done!

Darn thats exactly what I thought it was about.
Don't ask me ask Jim. The post he commented on didn't have anything to do with it.
Don't need a mirror, I can see past my nose, can you

Hey KB----I'm fer it.
I wrote my congressman (McCrery), for the first time ever, to oppose the TARP bailouts last fall. It didn't make a bit of difference, even though probably 80%-90% of the people were against it at the time. I'm not whining, but you should realize that writing congressman is an inefficient use of time. They couldn't care less what you think.
I concur, but they are number's people and like vote's. If enough people get involved it get's their attention!!
The crooks who channel money to people in both parties carry more weight than the populace at this point, it is despicable how far our political process has been corrupted. Look at Stanford Group, AIG, Madoff, etc's political contributions. They throw millions at both parties and then expect to get away with anything, while the voice of the average citizen is drowned out.
There may be a time to "Go Galt." But i doubt enough of the population has the fortitude to do such a thing.
How about Picken's Plan?

It's easy to me. It's good for us. It's good for the country. What's not to like?
It (Picken's plan, NG, etc) doesn't fall within the confines of the environmental lobby's plans for our future so don't expect it to be passed. What's good for the country has almost no weight in political outcomes these days.
Jim,
Why don't you quit talking down to people, and talk to them.
What's with the Kracker Klub, time to lash out a little bit and spill that venom. My your just showing that ugly side, with all that slang.

I guess the Kracker Klub is a group of people, probably mostly white men, (hence the name Kracker) who don't conform to your ideas and whom you don't control. It drives you freaking nuts Jim when you can't control the conversation doesn't it. I love driving you nuts. Spin, Spin, Spin some people on here buy your stuff some don't. Why are your bored with it Jim, two days ago you said you didn't want to stop talking politics because
you like it, you said it was fun to keep Dorcheated involved in the mix.
Jim,

Treat all people with respect and quit talking politics,
and I'll shut my mouth so fast it will spin your head around.

Time for a burger.
