Posted earlier regarding activity in the Haynesville Shale areas South of Mansfield and Logansport areas. The Haynesville Maps show this area of Desoto Parish as falling within the Shale perimeters. Is this within the area of exploration of the "Cotton Valley" gas reserves? From talking to Landman recently, they indicated that not much exploration has occured yet in defining, or, drilling test wells in this area to determine productions in Shale drilling. Anyone with any information regarding proposed test wells by the major players in this area would be appreciated.

Section 21 that you are referring, is it in DeSoto Parish or Sabine?
DeSoto
Rick,
Thanks for your reply, things have slowed down a little it seems in my township area in South Desoto Parish. We are hoping that in the near future, more news will leak out regarding some of the wells closest to us that might shed new light on potential values. Until then, stand by and wait, and keep our ears open.

What is the reason for the slow down? Has something happened with one of the wells in this area? I am in T14NR14W and was just told by CHK I am not in their area of interest? That seems strange to me since they are drilling a well very nearby - Stonewall-Preston Rd. I do not live in the area and wondering what has happened. I was thinking is the recent drop in gas prices but maybe it something local.
Eliza, what section are you in?
Sorry I hadn't checked in awhile. I am in sections 21, 22, 27, and 28 T14N14W. ElPaso has all depths in 27 HBP the others have deep rights available to lease. What is going on?
Eliza we have friends in sections above you and most are leased to Encana & Cheseapeake early in the play. Organize so you are ready when the money comes back in and it will.
that is interesting information. Thank you for sharing. What sections are your friends in? They probably weren't organized since it was early in the play? When you say organized what exactly are you referring to? Price, royalty, terms? Is it best to all go with the same company?
There is a lot of shifting around to capture leases in other areas before the prices go up. They will be back or other companies will step in. Some of the companies have expended their leasing capital and are regrouping but will be back. Other companies have not geared up to the lease amounts in this play yet but will be soon. Take this time to get your section's unleased folks together for collective bargaining when the time comes.
