Can't say I blame CHK for cancelling the building plans. When states exhibit anti-business environment, then businesses tend to move to other places. Why invest in W. Va. when the company is being abused in the Courts and the Supreme Court won't even hear an appeal? Just spend that money in another state.

From what I've seen of the original case, the legal grounds and the facts were weak at best. But what you have are a bunch of citizens on the jury looking at the millions of dollars in CHK's back pocket and deciding to redistribute the wealth through a verdict. This case was decided based on class envy or lack of understanding by the jury...or a little of both.

Jury rules against Chesapeake Energy

OKLAHOMA CITY --Oil and gas producer Chesapeake Energy Corp. said a West Virginia jury has decided that a Chesapeake subsidiary and another defendant in a lawsuit owe about $404 million in unpaid royalties on gas production.
