hmm...steve wonder if the shale is 100 ft thick in that area of our parish what does the shale (if it's in our area) looks like thickness wise?..thanks for the post
That's the million(s) dollar question. It has to thin out and/or get too deep at some point. At least now we have a good idea that it comes east and south of Messenger.
Is 100 ft. thick--is that great, average, OK? How thick is it in South Caddo, for example, where it's supposed to be fabulous?

Thanks, in advance!
I drove by and took pics today (Aug. 24) about 6-PM of the Messenger well and can confirm too, that indeed there is an appox. 30 ft verticle pipe with a flame from it that looks like a "blow torch." Hope this bodes well for Natchitoches Parish for all involved. Looks like the corn crop came in good too as harvesting has begun there the last few days.
weatherman, excellent picture! Hopefully, we will get some numbers in soon.
Very nice. Hopefully one of the board experts can opine on what kind of flow rate this indicates.
My "source" indicated, too, that the shale was about 100 ft thick
at the messenger well. 'Hope it makes it through Natchitoches
thick enough to warrant production.

If someone does get a real photo to post of the gas flare, it would be fun to see it, even if tiny in the distance, and cell-phone quality!
Check out weathermans profilr there is a pic of the well flare
Thanks Natch- how do I find his profile where the pic is?
I posted my guess there, anyone else feel brave?
my quess should have been 10mmcfd not 10mcfd.
