"More than 31,000 scientists across the U.S. – including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s in fields such as atmospheric science, climatology, Earth science, environment and dozens of other specialties – have signed a petition rejecting "global warming," the assumption that the human production of greenhouse gases is damaging Earth's climate."
"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate," the petition states. "Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."

Cap and Trade and other taxation schemes based upon the farce of Anthropogenic global warming will add hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars of tax burden on American energy consumers. We must reject these schemes and focus on energy independence, not squeezing even more dimes out of the already overburdened members of productive society.

Worse Than Fiction. A case study in bad science and global warming alarmism.

Global warming alarmists are fond of invoking the authority of experts against the skepticism of supposedly amateur detractors -- a.k.a. "deniers." So when one of those experts says that a recent report on the effects of climate change is "worse than fiction, it is a lie," the alarmists should, well, be alarmed.

I guess the wall street Journal consists of "flat earthers" as well.

"Yet there's not even remotely conclusive evidence that temperature increases have any effect on the intensity or frequency of hurricanes."

This is another gross falsehood Professor Gosh Darn has attempted to use to alarm us poo ole heretics. Laughable
Does it say that in my post? I believe your the one with a reading problem.
"If you are suggesting that climate change does not lead to storms of greater intensity, then you indeed are at a loss as to what it's all about."

That is exactly what I am suggesting, a recent government study by a Princeton PHD concludes that global warming would lead to less fequent less powerful hurricanes. The fundamental ingredient for hurricane formation and strength is a lack of upper level winds, which happens to be purely cyclical based on the location of the ever present Bermuda high. But seeing that you are clueless about this fact I wouldn't expect you to understand it.
Global warming isn’t to blame for the recent jump in hurricanes in the Atlantic, concludes a study by a prominent federal scientist whose position has shifted on the subject.

Not only that, warmer temperatures will actually reduce the number of hurricanes in the Atlantic and those making landfall, research meteorologist Tom Knutson reported in a study released Sunday.

I guess US government scientists with Princeton PHD's are flat earthers and heretics as well.http://wattsupwiththat.com/2008/05/19/hurricanes-to-global-warming-...
What more intense storms? LINK, it's bullshit KB. Nature by itself is extremely unpredictable, the poeple on your side are attempting to set up the argument so that they can't lose, can't you see that? Colder temps-global warming More storms-global warming Less storms-global warming It is ridiculous. These swings of which you speak do not exist. There is no evidence whatsoever.

I love the Red Sox. Your right, I am letting this thread die.
the IPCC and NASA have already been caught lying. You didn't see the NASA article from last week, yes I hate the Yankees

"Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly ... . As a scientist I remain skeptical." -- Atmospheric Scientist Dr. Joanne Simpson, the first woman in the world to receive a Ph.D. in meteorology and formerly of NASA who has authored more than 190 studies and has been called "among the most pre-eminent scientists of the last 100 years."

"Warming fears are the "worst scientific scandal in the history ... . When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists." -- U.N. IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh, an award-winning Ph.D. environmental physical chemist."

"It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don't buy into anthropogenic global warming." -- U.S. Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B. Goldenberg of the Hurricane Research Division of NOAA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration."

"After reading [U.N. IPCC chairman] Pachauri's asinine comment [comparing skeptics to] Flat Earthers, it's hard to remain quiet." -- Climate statistician Dr. William M. Briggs, who specializes in the statistics of forecast evaluation, serves on the American Meteorological Society's Probability and Statistics Committee and is an associate editor of Monthly Weather Review."

"Gore prompted me to start delving into the science again and I quickly found myself solidly in the skeptic camp ... . Climate models can at best be useful for explaining climate changes after the fact." -- Meteorologist Hajo Smit of Holland, who reversed his belief in man-made warming to become a skeptic, is a former member of the Dutch U.N. IPCC committee.
"All I can say is I'm glad you're not in charge. I highly recommend you not park your car with the engine running in your garage with the door down. Although were you to do so, you are absolutely right: you wouldn't see a hurricane within the lifetime spent."

I am sorry but that is ridiculous.
Where's the hard evidence that Cap and Trade taxation is going to make a difference in anything other than people's standard of living?

Cap and Trade taxation is Obama's attempt at doing something about climate change but exactly what?
Where's the numbers on what?
I mean are those worried about climate change suppose to feel good now because they are giving a lot of money to the government? What will we be getting for our money other than "Hope"?
Sound to me like the government is merely using climate change as reasoning to fleece people!
What's the difference between those asking for money because there's Climate Change and those TV preachers saying unless you send a $1000 dollars, you will go to hell?
KB, I as a hunter, outdoorsman, fisherman, landowner, gardener/farmer and conservationist can promise you I care about the earth, I am a member of Ducks Unlimited, the Gulf Coast Conservation Association, Quail unlimited, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, B.A.S.S., and Basslife. I and my family have contributed thousands of dollars to all of these organizations. But I do not agree with anthropogenic global warming and using fear tactics to support radical socialist tax policies.
One thing's for DAMN sure. Once the governments start taxing carbon emissions, global warning will become fact.

It will be a crime to dispute global warning in public schools. (Remember the Scopes trial and conviction?) Government scientists will be fired for disputing global warming instead of for supporting it.

Heck, it will probably end up causing more carbon emissions. Once the government profits from carbon emissions, they'll probably decide small cars are too dangerous. They'll decide that solar panels and windmills are an eyesore when someone wants to put them up. A windmill will break apart somewhere, kill some people, and they'll be regulated out of existence. Nuclear power will be too dangerous.
I thought about Gitmo, but that probably wouldn't really happen. It's easy enough to marginalize the opposition, especially among government employees and institutions that receive government grants. "Mr. University chancellor, you need to tone down that crazy Professor Jones if you want your grants next year."

I'm not that sure about whether human caused global warming is real or not, but I am sure it's left the realm of science and now is a religion of its own. (A religion for a lot of BOTH the advocates and opponents.)

There's also so much BS on either side. I don't care if he buys carbon credits. When Al Gore turns on the air conditioners in his mansion, a powerplant somewhere burns that much more fossil fuel and pumps out CO2.

Either way, I think it's about time to go get some ethanol and convert it to CO2 and H2O through biological processing. Anyone want to join me?
Agreed on Professor Jones. Same song, different verse, but now it will be hang the anti-global-warmers, vs. pro-global warmers.

There's nothing in the street
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now the parting on the right
