Any updates on Jackson parish wells? In particular more so 16 15 1 or near there. I know they have the fracking pipes out in the ditches and noticed an extra well( I'm assuming just started producing since didn't look like much from it yet) on most recent check from range. Just curious if anyone has heard of range's plans for projected completion plans or fracking completion plans or actual potentials from the three wells.

Range Louisiana currently has 3 rigs running in Jackson Parish.  The sections being drilled are:  12&13 - 16N - 1W, 2 - 16N - 3W and 35 - 15N - 3W and 14 - 17N - 2W.  All three wells should be nearing TD (Total Depth) and then they will be classified as WOC (Waiting On Completion).  IP (Initial Production) reports for these and the wells drilled immediately before them will likely be announced in Range's 4th Quarter/End of Year corporate report which should come out around February of next year.

Range doesn't get in any hurry to report the IP on their Jackson Parish wells. Besides the wells drilling now there are 5 previous wells listed as Shut In - Future Utility.  Notice the completion date and the reporting date on the last Range well completed in Jackson Parish. 10 and a half months lag time.

What period of time does the State of Louisiana require an Operator to submit actual production ?

As can be seen - Range's Weyerhaeuser well in Sec. 15 - 16 - 1 was completed 12/4/16   &  to date - 367 days later - there are no production volumes filed with the State of Louisiana !

A reasonable question, john.  And one among many that I am in the process of asking of the responsible parties.  Stay tuned.

Thanks for the information, jay.  How would this well be put through a state 24-hour initial flow test without being connected to a pipeline?

I hate to think of that much gas being flared.  23,064 Mcfd.  If I was a royalty interest under that well I would want payment for my portion of that ~$70,000. And it would take a large tank capacity to accommodate 5342 barrels of water.  All that just so a well can be tested and then shut in for that long a period of time.  Of course if Range is conducting a serious lease program they wouldn't want to let too much information become public. And the LA OOC is highly unlikely to complain unless someone were to point this out to them.  MRD and Range have both been warned about just this type of situation in the past.

I do indeed stand to be corrected, however, in the case of the aforementioned

Range-Weyerhaeuser - 15-16-1 - assuming there is no production ( only a test ) -  that if in fact the well was fractured and completed over a year ago - with no production -  wouldn't you think that the well would be compromised for future production with a completed & fully fractured well allowed to sit idle for over a year ?  Wouldn't you think that all of the frac fluid, etc.,  that was not allowed to flow back - would cause problems?

The other two Range wells in Sec. 15 were drilled, however, never frac or completed - I can understand that they want to study cores, logs, etc - but they have not compromised the wells for future production by frac and leaving for an extended period of time.

Skip - On Sonris under well production there is a report date.  It appears to be the 1st of the month.  Do you know what time period the production is for?  It looks odd to me when looking at a new well being brought into production.

example:  This well shows to be completed 8/22/2017  So on 8/1 it wouldn't have been completed yet and on 9/1 it should have only had about 8 days of production.

08/01/2017 617980 4 0 175494 0 0 DE SOTO

The date indicates that month's production.  So 8/01/2017 would be cumulative production for however many days the well flowed during the month of August.  You will often see obviously low reported volume for an initial month production report in which case you refer to the Well Scout section of the SONRIS well file to see the specific date on which production commenced.

Skip & Jay,

Just to be straight on your interpretation of this well - Sonris indicates a completion date of 12/04/2016 - no production from that time until some day in Aug of 2017.  That is a period of 9 months within which the frac fluid, mud, etc. sat idle throughout the perforations, well bore, etc   - then production commenced as stated above.

John, I'm not sure of the exact events depicted in this well file but I will visit with the staff at the Shreveport Office of Conservation office tomorrow to see if I can get us a clearer picture.

Skip I Would love to find out what you find out after meeting with conservation office. We aren't mad or in a mood to complain to them just wondering.

Latest development is that Compass Energy has applied for horizontal alternate cross unit wells in LCV Ra SUCC, SUP and SUL of the Vernon Field, Jackson Parish.  If drilled, these will be the company's first horizontal wells in north LA.  See Docket 18-19-21 set for hearing on 1/17/18.
