Would some of you good folks recomend a Gas and Oil attorney in East Texas. Didn't think it would have been that hard to find but I'd rather use someone that is recomended. Thanks in advance for any help.

i don't have any suggestions for East TX, i have one for Louisiana, and it depends on why you need one. could you expand on why you need an attorney? Do you have a lease to sign?
The reason i ask is that the oil companies do not like to work with attorneys after the lease has been signed. Once the lease has been signed, the oil/gas companies drag their feet or just flat refuse to respond to an attorney's request. I am dealing with oil/gas company: Questar and I am speaking from experience. Questar does not like to deal with attorneys. It's not that i have a bad attorney, it's just that the oil/gas company doesn't want to play along. Meanwhile, oil/gas company drops contract, you get no money from the oil/gas company. yet the attorney gets your money.

So again, it depends on your situation. could you explain your situation?
I, and many others here, have been happy with the council provided by Eric Camp. He's in Ft. Worth, but quite active and knowledgeable about E. Texas.

Well, I really needed an oil and gas attorney to look over my lease to make sure it was okay before I signed it. Trouble is I did not know one. I called up Ross & Matthews. They are located in Ft. Worth. I ended up talking to John Swanson. He has 30 + years in the industry. He looked it over and suggested I try to negociate a higher royalty percentage. I did and got the highest percentage paid by EOG. He also helped me strike out a couple of paragraphs that were restrictive.
Dean Searle in Marshall is very good.
