I understand there is a lot of coalbed methane in Caldwell Parish. Does anyone have knowledge on coalbed methane. I understand that it is a purer form of natural gas. Is it more desirable than the wet gas?? There are wells by E&P CO.LLC and land leased in the Woolen Lake area for coalbed methane. We have property in the area and have no clue what to think about the future for this particular gas for Caldwell . Thanks for any information about this gas or thoughts on the subject.

The LA. Department of Natural Resources does not list an operator by that name.

There are 3 wells listed on Sonris in Caldwell Parish. I found E & P on the internet under:  E & Pco,LLC EXPLORATION&PRODUCTION. They say they are a project company of Prestige O&G engaged in in drilling and development for CBM in Caldwell Parish.., Louisiana, USA. They said they have over 9,000 acres leased. I am just wondering what this is all about. I appreciate your response and if you can enlighten me in any way  I would appreciate it very much.

Their one completed well is a modest vertical well (240538).  Nothing to get excited about.  Their most recent permits are for horizontal wells neither of which reports drilling.  Interesting concept but probably not economic at today's natural gas prices.  This kind of situation happens often in the energy business.  Companies can take months if not years to perform all the phases leading up to actual drilling.  Then the price drops below the point that the prospect is profitable.

That is what I was thinking. Sounds more like  they are just "exploring the situation" right now. I have read about the CBM in the Powder River Montana area. Of coarse that is all stymied right now because of low prices. We are in Arkansas and I like to keep up with activity in Louisiana.. Maybe my Grandchildren will profit by this some day..Hope so. LOL Thank you so very much!!

Ser. # 240538, according to Sonris, belongs to a well in NW LA. in the Haynesville formation.

I checked the serial number.. It is # 242538. Wish Skip had been right.. I`d be glad to have it.  Thanks for the correction..

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
