I have an unleased interest in a section currently being drilled by Chesapeake. I have asked for the requisite reports upon completion of the well and drilling should be completed soon.

I would like to know what kind of payzones outside of the Haynseville layer were found during the drilling of this well. Is there any way I can get this info or is it considered proprietary by the the owner of the rig or Chesapeake?

Jay,

Is that the Camterra rig on Mr. McFerren's place?
El Theo, I assume you are in Louisiana. Check with Caliente but I believe you are entitled to all well information since you are a carried working interest owner in the unit.

You can also check with the Louisiana Dept of Conservation regarding the law.
In LA, if a well is logged, the log must be made available to OOC and be made part of the public record. The log will be scaned by OOC and made available on SONRIS, or you can go to the district office and view a hard copy. The logs may be made confidential for a period after submital by the operators request. In this case you will have to wait.

However.....CHK is not logging many of its wells. There is no requirment to submit a drillers log or mudlog to the state.
Yes, but any of the logs in the lateral are not required to be submitted to the OOC and are not public record.
Thanks. I am indeed in Louisiana and what I'd like to know is whether there are other significant Paluxy, Hosston, Cotton Valley or other sands and formations that might hold promise in the future. I'm really just wanting information, which I see as a mineral owner's best asset. I figured that being a carried working interest might open that information to me, but I'm just a novice that reads this board.

Thanks for yours and everyone else's help. I'll explore the suggestions you have made and let you know what I am able or unable to find.
Call the shreveport district of the OOC. They should be able to tell you what they are required to provide you with.
Baron, because this is a carried working interest owner issue the information may have to be provided by the operator rather than the state. In other words, El Theo is likely entitled to even non-public information.
I think that is the Questar rig on the Sample Farm Jay. Went to Maeora (sp?) last Sunday and the pond is almost over the pier.
If you're talking about Dixie 31, Jay, I was on the pad a few days ago and it was high and dry. They're doing some work back there and I was checking it out.
