The article describes a generous donation by Select to assist the Chireno Historical Society and a potential donation by EXCO to the Chireno Historical Society.

Chireno and Nacogdoches has been very welcoming to these two companies, as have the citizens, so returning a monetary thanks is appreciated.

Select Energy donated sizable check during the dedication of the Historical Marker for The Halfway Inn last year. DAR attendees gave a really nice round of applause. A collective gasp and (old school) twittering erupted from the ladies.

You better believe these fine women departed to the far parts of TX and told their influential husbands, groups (they likely belong to many) and friends of Select's contribution. Money well spent and much appreciated.

Also, anybody needing a reason to visit Chireno, the annual Spring Heritage Day at the historic Halfway Inn is April 14th. There will be music featuring Dulcimers, assorted ole time instruments, Suzuki Violins, my DH on Concertina and the Bevel's Rangers (pre-1840's reenactment group) along with Dr. George Avery featuring artifact identification (children's activity), vintage quilts, MAPS, etc. Good old fashioned food on hand, Antiqued Food, as my son once called it.

Come on out, it's lots of fun.

And thanks once again Select, for giving back.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
