CORPUS CHRISTI - The City of Corpus Christi Gas Operations Department invites everyone to the official opening of its new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle fueling station. Mayor Joe Adame and City Manager Angel Escobar will join other officials for a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009 at the new facility, which is located next to City Hall at the corner of Lipan Street and Sam Rankin Street.

The station offers a total of six fueling points for City vehicles that run on CNG. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, Gas Operations officials will demonstrate the ease with which those vehicles can be fueled at the facility. They will also be handing out information about the benefits of using CNG and will be available to answer any questions the media may have about the new facility and about CNG powered vehicles.

With Monday's opening of the City Hall location, the City will actually have two places where CNG vehicles can be fueled. The first station has been operating for a number of years at the Gas Operations facility, located at 4225 South Port Avenue. The City currently has more than 30 CNG powered vehicles in its fleet.
