What do cross unit horizontal well mean?Got a division order from Chesapeake Energy today do that mean that all three sections that have been drill everyone have a share of the royalty or do you just get a share from the well in your section because I'm in section 24 14N 15W desoto parish but on sonrise lite it only showing one well allocate to 24 14N 15W but they driiled three wells from that section. Can some one on this forum that's know more about this explain this to me?

A Cross Unit Later well (designated as HC) has a horizontal lateral in more than one section/unit. Could be 2, could be 3. The production is allocated to mineral owners in each unit by the percentage of the perforated lateral lying in each section. Once the well is completed the operator files an "as drilled" plat and a form stating the percentage of well production that is attributable to each unit. Sonris Lite will list the wells by their surface location section. Here are the HC wells with surface locations in Section 24. The first two have the perforated portion of their laterals in sections 13 & 12 as indicated by the well names. The last well has the perforated portion of the lateral in sections 13 & 24. It helps to have a township grid to see how sections are oriented one to the other. In this case 24 is immediately south of 13 and 13 is immediately south of 12.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
