There is a well(spud) going in at Dawson Acres off Jefferson-Paige Rd the end of July or the beginning of Aug. Are there any of you in that area besides me ? I'm in contact with a landman with Sampson but am not leased as yet....he hasn't even approched me with a lease proposition yet. Was wondering about anyone else that could be associated with that well. My son and I are really grateful for this site and all the wonderful education we are gleening from it. Thank you.

Gotta provide Section, Township and range for us to be much help to you. I would think the west side of town would in general be Chesapeake territory. I am assuming you have a house lot??? Someone will get around to leasing you if they "spud" (which means begin drilling) a well.
Thank you . 171509-005-0029 and171509-005-0028. Two acres. Several years ago I had opportunity to buy the 5 acres next to me...I could kick my behind now but at the time it was flood acreage and a burden in my mind.Yikes...hindsight is 20/20 isn't it?
I think it's Chesapeake that leased around the Assembly of God school south of !-20 and the bonuses were outrageous ...like $25,000.00 an acre. My former daughter-in-law got that but with the prices being what they are now I don't think we will see bonuese that high unless the prices increase. What do you think? I also am comptemplating the suggestion from this site that in the end it might be wiser to take more points with the royalties rather than a bonus up front. Am examining what that would entail. We are north of I-20 ,three miles west of Pines Rd just off Jefferson-Paige Rd in Dawson Acres but I think the residents of that area are choosing to call it Dawson Creek now. I moved 5 years ago to Montana and my daughter watches over the property for me. Several months ago a landman from South Louisana contacted me with an offer of $3000.00 an acre but we elected to sit tight to see what is going on. I'm not one to jump quickly into any situation I don't have an education in. It would be interesting to see what people in my area are being told . If any of you are a part of this site let me know. Thanks
I think others on the web site would agree with me that north of I-20 does not appear to be as good as south!!! Might want to take that into consideratiion.
Yeah, I gathered that by the rush of leases last year and nothing where we are. It will be interesting to watch as wells go in....who knows.

I have two acres in Dawson Acres that was my residence until 5 years ago when I moved to Montana. My daughter manages the property for me now. The name of the area has been changed to Dawson Creek but I don't think the residents of Dawson Rd did that legally ..they just put up a sign with the new name. ???
I figure I'll get more interest from landmen about this but just curious what the people in my area are being told at this time.
don't expect samsom to offer alot for your lease. notorious for being cheap!
Somewhere I heard some negatives about Sampson. Other than being cheap is there anything else about them people should be aware of? Thanks
where is dawson acres? are is dawson creek

Dawson Acres ,also called Dawson Creek, is North of I-20 and west of Pines Rd three miles.
Patricia, keep us posted. Our farm is further out but it is interesting to hear the details. There's a "freelance" bbq joint at the corner of Dawson Road, is there?? grin
I moved 5 years ago to Montana. before I left a house was being built on the corner coming into Dawson Acres there on the right...they very well could have turned it into a bbq place. There are a number of Dawson's that live on the right of the road and it's on that road that I understand a well is being put in. You say you have a farm further out...do you mean out on Jefferson-Paige or Dawson Rd? There is a farm at the very end of Dawson but if you lived there you undoubtably would have knowledge of this well. I just received a call from a landman in South Louisiana who has called a couple of times before with another offer. We haven't been anxious to move on any lease until we could get an education in what all this means. I've put my son in charge of talking to the landmen and he will call this fella in a couple of hours and see what all he wants to offer us now. Will keep you posted.
