Disaster that never was: Why claims that BP created history's worst oil spill may be the most cynical spin campaign ever

But there IS a disaster. The economic impact of the disaster will last for many years. The area may never really recover economically.

Of course, the disaster I'm talking about is the drilling moratorium, not the spill.

Remember, crude oil is 100% organic.
Remember the oil and natural gas seeps off the coast of Santa Barbara, California?

These are ancient and have been leaking for centaries. There are some wells drilled, but as a rule the locals will not allow drilling, even if in drilling it takes the pressures off, and slows the seeps.

It turns out the air in Santa Barabara has been proven to be 10 times more toxic than the air is in downtown Los Angeles. This is an area where producing platforms are disguised as islands with fake palm trees or as fake skyscrapers

Go figure!

Maybe the rich NIMBYs in their multi-million dollar estates just like to sniff hydrocarbons, while blocking anyone from doing new drillings.
Remember, the Daily Mail is a UK tabloid given to sensational, if not inaccurate, headlines. And, being a UK tabloid, of course it would be critical of the US government. It's not the UK's shores, marine life and economy that are suffering as a result of BP's (note: first initial stands for BRITISH) spewke.

Daily Mail has been sued numerous times for it's inaccurate headlines. I like this one the best...

"On October 9th 2009 the Mail ran the headline "Hunger striker's £7m Big Mac: Tamil who cost London a fortune in policing was sneaking in fast-food" The article stated that "Scotland Yard surveillance teams using specialist monitoring equipment had watched in disbelief" as Parameswaran Subramaniyan; a Tamil hunger striker protesting outside the Houses of Parliament covertly broke his fast by secretly eating McDonald's burgers. When a request for an apology and retraction of this story was refused, Mr Subramanyam issued proceedings against the paper. In court, the newspaper's claim was shown to be entirely false, the Met superintendent in charge of the policing operation confirmed there had been no police surveillance team using the "specialist monitoring equipment". As a result, on 29 July 2010, Mr Subramanyam is understood to have accepted damages of £47,500 from the Daily Mail. The newspaper also paid his legal costs, withdrew the allegations and apologised "sincerely and unreservedly" for the distress that had been caused."

So, who does the Daily Mail expect to pay, if not BP, for the consequences of the attitude, "Drill, baby, drill?" The American taxpayers? Where's that Tea Party when you need them?

They are mostly off somewhere refrudiating.
If anyone wants real facts from an industry insider, read Bob Kavnar's blog, the daily hurricane at www.dailyhurricane.com
Looks like mostly liberal bull to me.
I'm sorry. But, Bob Kavnar is a respected oil and gas man of decades. Link to his latest

Sorry, but it took me 10 seconds to realize the dailyhurricane is a group of morons. I spent a few minutes reading a few articles giving it a second chance. They're still leftwing hate mongers.
Just read bob kavnar's posts
Do you mean Bob Cavnar?

The guy who's pumping up the media frenzy to boost sales of a "tell all" book about to be published?
And I suppose what scientific researchers from Loyola, Tulane, Southern Miss and LSU are now concerned about is "cynical spin?"

Next time you order crabs in a restaurant, they may be prepared WITH oil rather than IN oil.

hmmmm,

I read more of Mr. Kavnar's posts than I should have... That's fifteen minutes down the drain...
