Anderson County
The McFarland Trust Well No. 4 will be drilled to 2,000 feet four miles northeast of Elkhart in the Anwac (1400 Wilcox) Field. This well will be drilled by JLA Resources in the R. Erwin Survey, A-263. It may be drilled in a wildcat field, the Anwac (900 Wilcox) Field or the Anwac (1300 Wilcox) Field.

 

Falcon Resources will drill the Royall Well No. 1 to 6,000 feet 8.4 miles east of Palestine in the Long Lake Field. This well is in the J. Madden Survey, A-39.

 

Freestone County
In a lease 6.2 miles southeast of Teague, XTO Energy will drill the McSwane Gas Unit Well No. 20H. The well will hit 13,300 feet in the Freestone (Cotton Valley Bossier Consolidated) Field. The well is in the G. Luna Survey, A-18.

 

XTO Energy will drill two new wells.
The Roper Gas Unit Well No. 8 will hit 11,800 feet 1.3 miles northeast of Teague in the Teague (Cotton Valley-Bossier Consolidated) Field. The well is in the D.C. Cannon Survey, A-130 and may be drilled in the Teague (Travis Peak) Field or the Teague (Pettit B) Field.

The Knight Gas Unit No. 1 Well No. 23 will hit 13,100 feet 7.3 miles southeast of Teague in the Freestone (Cotton Valley-Bossier Consolidated) Field. The well is in the D. Bullock Survey, A-56.

 

Harrison County
The Carthage (Haynesville Shale) Field will see the Dinkle Deep GU Well No. 2H drilled by NFR Energy to 12,291 feet four miles southwest of Marshall in the J.W. Britain Survey, A-78.

 

Henderson County
XTO Energy will drill the H.P. Barton Gas Unit Well No. 14 to 12,500 feet 8.4 miles southwest of Athens in the Tri-Cities (Cotton Valley) Field. This well is in the W. Kay Survey, A-421.

 

East Texas Oil & Gas will drill the Taylor Well No. 1 to 10,750 feet in a wildcat field six miles southwest of Brownsboro. This well is in the J.R. Smith Survey, A-7047 and may be drilled in
the Martha Jo (Travis Peak) Field or the Steve Kraker (Pettet) Field.

 

Johnson County
The Wadsworth Unit Well No. 3H will hit 10,000 feet 4.2 miles southeast of Burleson in the East Newark Field. XTO Energy will drill this well to in the J.A. Renfro Survey, A-740.

 

Devon Energy will drill the John King Edward Well No. 23H and the John King Edward Well No. 33H in the East Newark (Barnett Shale) Field to 9,000 feet.

The No. 23H is 10.2 miles west of Cleburne in the MEP&P RR Co. Survey, A-1037.

The No. 33H is nine miles west of Cleburne in the H&TC RR Co./J. Conner Survey, A-1026.

 

Chesapeake Operating will drill the Poindexter Well No. 2H and the Poindexter Well No. 3H to 9,000 feet in the East Newark (Barnett Shale) Field to 9,000 feet. The wells are 4.2 miles south of Cleburne in the S. Townsend Survey, A-840.

 

Nacogdoches County
XTO Energy will drill the Texans DU Well No. 1H to 13,600 feet two miles northeast of Chireno in the Carthage (Haynesville Shale) Field. This is in the J.I. Y'Barbo Survey, A-60.

 

Panola County
Anadarko E&P will drill the Frost Lumber Ind. Inc. Unit Well No. 5H to 12,000 feet 9.2 miles southeast of Carthage in the Carthage (Cotton Valley) Field. The well is in the T. Kelly Survey, A-373.

 

Devon Energy will drill the Havard-Griffith (Allocation) Unit Well No. 6H to 11,000 feet 8.5 miles southwest of Carthage in the Carthage (Cotton Valley) Field. This well is in the E. Morris Survey, A-432.

 

Anadarko E&P will drill the H.B. Frost Unit Well No. 11H to 12,000 feet 8.3 miles southeast of Carthage in the Carthage (Cotton Valley) Field. This is in the J. Soope Survey, A-870.

 

Robertson County
O'Benco will drill the TXU 8 Well No. 1 in the Bald Prairie (Cotton Valley Consolidated) Field. This well is 13.1 miles northwest of Franklin in the J. Dillard Survey, A-129 and may be drilled in a wildcat field.

 

The Corry Gas Unit Well No. 8 will hit 14,800 feet 7.8 miles northeast of Franklin in the Bald Prairie (Cotton Valley Con-solidated) Field. The well will be drilled by XTO Energy in the J.
Patterson Survey, A-300.

 

Rusk County
The S.S. Laird - A- Well No. 8W will be drilled by Zone energy to 3,900 feet 2.9 miles southwest of Kilgore in the East Texas Field. This well is in the I. Ruddle Survey, A-913.

 

Shelby County
Exco Operating will drill the Turpin SU Well No. 1H to 15,000 feet 4.5 miles northwest of Shelbyville in the Carthage (Haynesville Shale) Field. The well is in the B. Odell Survey, A-535.

 

In a lease 5.9 miles southeast of Shelbyville, in the Carthage (Haynesville Shale) Field, the Cardinals DU Well No. 1H will be drilled by XTO Energy. The well will hit 19,600 feet in the G.
Neil Survey, A-524.

 

The P. Risinger GU Well No. 1 will be drilled by Southwestern Energy to 13,000 feet 12 miles northeast of San Augustine in the Carthage (Haynesville Shale) Field. This is in the J. Rowe
Survey, A-585.

 

Newfield Exploration will drill the PDU "Cypress" Well No. C2MB and the PDU "Oak" Well No. D 2MB in the Carthage (Haynesville Shale) Field to 12,500 feet.

The No. C2MB is 8.6 miles east of Shelbyville in the P. Sparks Survey, A-1061.

The No. D2MB is 8.6 miles east of Shelbyville in the B.H. Simpson Survey, A-635.

 

Tarrant County
Chesapeake Operating will drill the Thornton Well No. S5H and the SW Baptist Well No. S7H in the East Newark (Barnett Shale) Field to 9,000 feet.

The No. S5H is within the city limits of Fort Worth in the T. McCanne Survey, A-1033.

The No. S7H is within city limits of Fort Worth in the W.W. Wheat Survey, A-1645.

 

In a lease within the city limits of Fort Worth, XTO Energy will drill three additional wells to 10,000 feet in the East Newark (Barnett Shale) Field. The wells are designated the Meacham Well
No. A8H, Meacham Well No. A10H, and Meacham Well No. A11H. The wells are in the
T.J. Thompson Survey, A-1503.

 

Carrizo Oil & Gas will drill the Lonestar Unit Well No. 6H to 9,000 feet within the city limits of Arlington in the East Newark (Barnett Shale) Field. This well is in the P. Caldwell Survey,
A-364.

 

XTO Energy will drill the Smith Unit Well No. C3H, the Meacham Well No. A 12H and the TRWD Marine Quest Unit Well No. 2H in the East Newark (Barnett Shale) Field. These wells will hit 10,000 feet.

The No. C3H is 1.5 miles southwest of Kennedale in the Shelby CSL Survey, A-1375.

The Smith Well No. A12H is within the city limits of Fort Worth in the T.J. Thompson Survey, A-1503.

The No. 2H is 4.2 miles northwest of Azle in the J. Armendaris Survey, A-1765.

 

Van Zandt County
The Morton Salt Well No. 6 will be drilled by Morton Salt, in the Grand Saline Field. This well will hit 3,200 feet .5 miles southwest of Grand Saline in the S. Bell Survey, A-46.


COMPLETIONS

Bowie County
Carr Resources completed the Jackson Well No. 1H to 7,374 feet two miles southeast of Dalby Springs in the Dalby Springs Field. The well flowed with 21 barrels of crude, no choke size recorded. Production is in the Paluxy.

 

Johnson County
The Moertle-Hart-Neely (SA) Well No. 2H and the Moertle-Hart-Neely (SA) Well No. 3H were completed by Devon Energy in the East Newark Field. The wells are 7.8 miles northeast of Cleburne.

The No. 2H hit 12,900 feet and potentialed 3.871 million cubic feet of gas on an open choke.

The No. 3H hit 13,000 feet and potentialed 3.263 million cubic feet of gas on an open choke. Production is in the Barnett Shale.

 

Chesapeake Operating completed the Raintree Well No. 2H and the Raintree Well No. 3H. The wells are 14 miles northeast of Cleburne in the East Newark Field.

The No. 2H hit 12,184 feet and potentialed 4.192 million cubic feet of gas on a .75-inch choke.

The No. 3H hit 10,497 feet and potentialed 2.015 million cubic feet of natural gas on a .75-inch choke.

 

Limestone County
Devon Energy completed the Mildred Thompson Well No. 21 to 12,900 feet 13.9 miles southeast of Groesbeck in the Freestone Field. This well potentialed 2.649 million cubic feet of gas on a 32/64-inch choke. Production is in the Cotton Valley-Bossier Consolidated.

 

Nacogdoches County
Valence Operating completed the Teutsch Well No. 1 hit 14,167 feet 18.2 miles east of Nacogdoches in the Carthage Field. On a 12/64-inch choke the well potentialed 672,000 cubic feet of gas. Production is in the Haynesville Shale.

 

Panola County
Chesapeake Operating completed the Miles Bell Well No. 1H to 15,510 feet .7 miles southeast of Berry in the Carthage Field. On a 18/64-inch choke, the well potentialed 5.150 million cubic feet of gas. Production is in the Haynesville Shale.

 

The Reed Well No. 2 was completed by Basa Resources to 6,906 feet 8.3 miles southwest of Beckville in the J.G.S. Field. The wells choke size and potential not unavailable.

 

Devon Energy completed the Thompson Unit Well No. 9 to 9,670 feet 2.9 miles northeast of Carthage in the Carthage Field. On an adjustable choke, the well potentialed 187,000 cubic feet of gas. Production is in the Travis Peak.

 

Classic Operating completed the Wiener Estate C Well No. 2 and the Wiener Estate C Well No. 2 in the Carthage Field three miles west of Joaquin.

The Wiener Estate C Well No. 2 hit 11,150 feet and potentialed 32,000 cubic feet of gas on a 48/64-inch choke.

The Wiener Estate D Well No. 2 10,950 feet and potentialed 472,000 cubic feet of gas on a 48/64-inch choke. Production is in the Haynesville Shale.

 

Shelby County
Samson Lone Star completed the Mildred Well No. 1H to 7,406 feet 12.5 miles east of Shelbyville in the Huxley Field. The well flowed with 274 barrels of crude on a 22/64-inch choke. Production is in the Fredricksburg.

 

The Zap DU Well No. 1 potentialed 104,000 cubic feet of gas when gauged on a 48/64-inch choke. XTO Energy completed this well to 11,975 feet in the Carthage Field five miles northeast
of Center. Production is in the Haynesville Shale.

 

Tarrant County
Chesapeake Operating completed seven new wells in the East Newark Field.

The Hight Point Well No. 2H hit 11,312 feet 3.7 miles southeast of Arlington and potentialed 3.129 million cubic feet of gas on a 1-inch choke.

The KISD Well No. 3H hit 12,000 feet 1.8 miles east of Kennedale and potentialed 5.827 million cubic feet of gas on a .5312 million cubic feet of gas.

The B. White Well No. 1H hit 11,960 feet within the city limits of Arlington and potentialed 9.899 million cubic feet of gas on a 1-inch choke.

The B. White Well No. 3H hit 11,888 feet within the city limits of Arlington and potentialed 10.159 million cubic feet of gas on a 1-inch choke.

The B. White Well No. 4H hit 11,665 feet within city limits of Arlington and potentialed 7.912 million cubic feet of gas on a 1-inch choke.

The I-20 JV Well No. 6H hit 11,975 feet 4.6 miles southeast of Arlington and potentialed 3.154 million cubic feet of gas on a 1-inch choke.

The Airport Crossing JV Well No. 1H hit 12,527 feet 22 miles northeast of Fort Worth and potentialed 5.043 million cubic feet of gas on a .75-inch choke. Production is in the Barnett Shale.

 

The Everman Unit Well No. 1H is 1.6 miles west of Everman in the East Newark Field. This well was completed by Range Production to 10,910 feet. On a 32/64-inch choke the well potentialed
5.521 million cubic feet of gas. Production is in the Barnett Shale.

 

The Range Production completed an additional well designated the Everman Unit Well No. 3H to 10,899 1.6 miles west of Everman in the East Newark Field. On a 32.64-inch choke, the well
potentialed 7.375 million cubic feet of natural gas. Production is in the Barnett Shale.

 

Chesapeake Operating completed the Rocking Horse Well No. 9H and the KISD Well No. 2H in the East Newark Field.

The No. 9H hit 12,158 feet; location of the well is not recorded. On a .75-inch choke the well potentialed 8.409 million cubic feet of gas.

The No. 2H hit 11,955 feet 1.8 mile east of Kennedale. On a .75-inch choke the well potentialed 6.595 million cubic feet of gas. Production is the Barnett Shale.

 

The Airplane Well No. 2H was completed by Chesapeake Operating in the East Newark Field. The well is 2.6 miles northwest of Crowley and hit 12,600 feet. The well potentialed 7.980
million cubic feet of gas on a .75-inch choke. Production is in the Barnett
Shale

 

On a 64/64-inch choke the Browder Dearing Well No. A15 potentialed 1.817 million cubic feet of gas. This well is three miles north of Aledo in the East Newark Field. Talon Oil & Gas
completed the well to 10,060 feet. Production is in the Barnett Shale.

 

XTO Energy completed three new wells in the East Newark Field.

The Britt Unit Well No. 10H, the Britt Unit Well No. 11H and the Britt Unit Well No. 19H are eight miles northwest of River Oaks.

The No. 10H hit 9,809 feet and potentialed 1.976 million cubic feet of gas on a 26/64-inch choke.

The No. 11H hit 9,239 feet and potentialed 1.780 million cubic feet of gas on a 26/64-inch choke.

The No. 19H hit 9,887 feet and potentialed 2.558 million cubic feet of gas on a 26/64-inch choke. Production is in the Barnett Shale.

 

Van Zandt County
Paul E. Cameron Jr. completed the C.L. York Well No. 5 to 1,400 feet 2.5 miles northeast of Van in the Van Field. This well flowed with two barrels of crude, no choke size available. Production is in the Shallow.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
