Yes.  There is a major fault in the eastern half of Section 29 running just slightly NE to SW.
would a oil company still be able to drill section
I think the question should be, would one of the companies developing the Haynesville Shale be able to drill the section.  I can't answer for them but I would think it possible.  Now whether it would be considered economic to do so?  I don't know?  Operators do not like to drill horizontal wells that penetrate faults with significant throws (displacement).  J-W did form a Haynesville Drilling Unit for the section.
Steven, a single fault should not impede a company's ability to develop a Haynesville Unit (section).
Hmmm... assuming the section's operator does not control the sections to the north and south, a fault cutting a section in half, diagonally, does not impede development?
HY, the operator should be able to drill wells that parallel the fault line.
I have land in red river parish that had a seismic test last year, would like to know if there is a fault. the s-t-r in question is s10-t-11n-r-9w any help would be appreciated . Petro Hawk lease expires 6/11/12
charles, I don't see a fault in your section.  Petrohawk still has plenty of time to drill your lease if they would choose to do so now that they have been acquired by BHP Billiton.  They hold the unit orders for sections 5,10, 13, 14 & 31.

Charles, only Petrohawk or other operators in the area (EnCana/Shell) would know if faulting is present in your section since they are the only ones with access to such information.  There has been strong indication of faulting in sections 2 to 6 miles north and northeast of your section but areas southwest of you do not appear to have any issues.

The probability of Petrohawk drilling in your section is heavily dependent upon how much acreage they still control in the area.
