My (very) extended family owns mineral rights to a few hundred acres in Cass. Many years ago their rights were leased but never drilled nor explored. This must have ended in the 1960's.

I apologize very much for asking questions that may have been asked before, but I could find no discussion.  My questions:  Before I travel to Cass to search out information, I'd like to know as much as I can. Is there a "checklist" here?

We also have many heirs. there were seven children and then their children, and maybe more heirs if some of those are late.. We are not in contact will all.  Do all heirs need to sign any contracts?  We are searching for all heirs as my little fingers type.

We want to make contact with an attorney with oil experience. Can anyone put me on course to a list of potential attorneys?

Any other tips are welcome. I will continue to read all post here.
