That's good - I didn't think about texting or being distracted but Halloween is definitely one night when we all need to be extra vigilant.

Keith, a couple of years ago it's a miracle I didn't have an accident, not because of being distracted but because of a couple's costumes. What were they wearing? Very little! LOL! About all either one appeared to have on was a towel - she was wearing a shower cap and he was swinging a bar of soap on a rope!! That was it!!

Both had slim figures to carry off the look beautifully - it wouldn't have been the same on me!!

What's the best soap for smearing on windows? This used to be very popular in the 1930's. I wonder if Dove, Ivory or Irish Spring would be best? (don't worry, I live a couple of thousand miles from you guys :)

Have a happy Halloween! Check out on the tv docs on the history of Halloween. It's fascinating to learn how bad the holiday was in the early part of the last century. I think the 50's reclaimed the trick or treating by having parents go out with small children in costumes. Seems like before that it was mainly a teenager's holiday.

JB remembers window soaping, although he never participated. In his early years of grade school he vaugely remembers the teachers buying "insurance" from some youth organization. The organization would stop other students from soaping school windows of the particular classroom or clean off the soap if they were unable to stop them. We couldn't have something like that today. They'd be shooting each other in the cities and in the small towns they'd be fighting and we can't have that. JB is old enough he can remember simpler times.......................

Rosebud is old enough she can also remember simpler times, Jack Blake...and, honestly, I feel blessed! There aren't many perks to getting old but I've known wonderfully simpler times, when the whole world seemed kinder and gentler.

I've never heard of window soaping but I've heard stories about mouth soaping. LOL! Not too long ago I heard a first grader tell his father he could "go to h_ _ _" as he got on a school bus and I couldn't even imagine what would have happened had a child from my generation have said such a thing.

I remember when Halloween was all about fun and never a consideration given to sex offenders in the neighborhood or needles in candy - nor how unhealthy it was to even eat candy. Now it's almost politically incorrect to even mention candy. How did we survive?

Amen Rosebud, Jack Blake can relate to your post. Especially the second sentence.
Jack Blake's Mother and Grandmother gave him mouthes of soap. Jack didn't like the way they would ram that bar in his teeth and scrape soap onto his teeth. He can only remember it happening a few times. Jack learned not to curse in front of them (or under his breath). Jack never even thought of cursing at them.
