THE GHS HAYNESVILLE SHALE RIG TRACKER.

I'll update each week so we can follow the rig count.  I am only counting rigs drilling the Haynesville and Bossier formations.  Many industry rig numbers are for the "Haynesville Area",  however they may defined that, and includes wells drilling other formations.

Scroll down for each new weekly count.  I am deleting the January 26 rig count that I used to start this discussion and replacing it with a running list showing the rig count by state by week.

Note that the list begins in late January.  There was no impact from COVID and the OPEC/Russia oil price war had not commenced.  It began in March.  All in all I find it impressive that as of this week's report, the Hayesville Shale Play is at 87.5% of the beginning count.  And at historically low natural gas prices at that.  Holding up surprisingly well to date.

Skip, thanks for the update. I loosely monitor some of the more recent HV completions. Rockcliff consistently making wells with over 20 MMMCF per day IP's. Other good results across the board.

Farming the gas!!!

E TX IPs have increased along with those across the line in NW LA since the advent of intensive stimulation completion designs.  In this period of  depressed commodity prices Haynesville Shale drillers are faring better than most.  I would very much like your opinion on how far north in the E TX portion of the HA fairway the Mid-Bossier Shale may be economic.

A good question - I have seen mapping that (if memory is correct) seems to show a coincident "northern edge" the optimal Mid Bossier Shale and Haynesville Shale depocenter / sub basin this runs roughly E-W through northern Harrison County.

Wraps around to the south as you move thru Gregg and Rusk Counties. Not sure of the "boundary" as one moves in Louisiana.

I think the best map I have is this one.  It's an early play Petrohawk map but it and the one for the Haynesville Shale have proven to be pretty accurate over time.  So, portions of the 14 North townships and most of the fairway from the 13 North townships south in Louisiana.  I think that my initial written note may be a little off.  I think the red 15 PF line is probably correct as to the Mid-Bossier being economic.

With respect to the PetroHawk map that you just posted, this is probably a great start as to "sweet spot". I am sure that the outline has changed over the years as technology and mapping has improved, but I figure that the optimum area is pretty much coincident with what this map is showing.

Thanks for putting this up / I had seen this several years ago in a technical meeting.

You're welcome.  I think it is much easier to identify Bossier wells in Texas as the producing formation is indicated in the well name.  Not so in Louisiana where the Mid-Bossier is included in the depth definition of all Haynesville Shale Drilling units.  I suspect Julie Freeman is the best member to comment on the Bossier in E TX as she tracks wells weekly.
