I'm asking because I have never seen it.  What does it look like? Can you buy a core sample?  Just to have for a show and tell paper weight?

I've seen several core samples at trade shows.  There is one coming up in Shreveport soon that may have one.  Unless you know someone in the business it will be difficult to get a sample for yourself.  Generally speaking the shale is fine grained and very hard.  It doesn't seem possible it could hold so much gas
