The article is about El Paso's Elba Island facility. There is a facility much like it at Pascagoula, Ms.
BJ, the US still imports ~ 8 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day - primarily by pipeline from Canada. There are seven LNG (liquified natural gas) import terminals in operation in the US with an additional two LNG import terminals under construction. There are no CNG (compressed natural gas) imports.
Les, what % of our usage is that imported gas? I was thinking less that 2%. Is that anywhere close?
Jffree1, total 2009 imports were 7.4 Bcfd which was 12.6% of total usage. LNG imports were 1.2 Bcfd or ~ 2.0% of total usage.

as you can see the vast majority is pipelined in from Canada. There is a little from Mexico, and also some LNG imports.
Baron, to get full picture you have to look at exports also. The US is a net exporter to Mexico.

Repsol signs deal for Qatari LNG to Canada
Published Friday October 8th, 2010

Spain's No. 1 oil and gas company, which operates the Port City terminal, won't reveal the expected annual amount of gas to be shipped from Qatar to New Brunswick or how long the deal lasts.

Canaport LNG, a regasification terminal officially opened in September 2009 by Repsol chairman and CEO Antonio Brufau, has so far delivered more than 100 billion cubic feet of natural gas to the U.S. northeast, according to Repsol...

It has the capacity to send out one billion cubic feet of gas per day and to meet one-fifth of the natural gas demand of New York and New England.
