I was not aware of that. I thought the only people who weren't paid were the one's whose property was HBP.
Henry,

I am very sorry for your group. I knew about the other areas where Chesapeake had done this but I didn't realize they had done it in DeSoto also.

Hopefully they will end up honoring their agreement. I believe that is what they eventually did in the other areas.

If not, maybe the group could consider working together on a lawsuit.
CHK has done it in Sabine also. Some of the members of our group got paid, others didn't. We signed an agreement to lease and the attorney that brokered the deal says it is binding to CHK, but not to us; that is we could accept another offer (but this doesn't make sense to me -- why binding for one and not the other?). This attorney is still optimistic they will honor the agreement when the money flows.
These guys are pros. They have been doing this for a long time. Many of the pros they have on staff or at their disposal, are there for this very reason. To find out how much more can be squeezed or manipulated in their favor.

The P.R. problems that CHPK have created for themselves are secondary in nature to their bottom line. I dont give a rip about how many charities they may or may not donate to, how many infomercials or billboards they have reminding us peasants how fortunate we are that they have decided to bless us with their time & energy. They care about themselves. They try to make us think they they care what people think about them, until it really doesnt matter anymore what people think. Then they go about what they do. Plain and simple.

If anyone decides, at this point in the game, to do lifelasting business with someone like this, please dont be surprised if the sheets stink after crawling in bed with a skunk.
Henry , they did about the same thing to us in keithville but also the day before the land person informed one of the negotiaters that the deal was off the table,Chesaprick hired the lawfirm that the attorney helping us worked for.Not being a partner and now a conflict of interest he had no choice but returning our call with" its out of my hands" I can't help any more.Money buys alot of bad in certain hands. My feelings now is their hands will never be clean.Be patient and good luck to all of you.
I don't know who Chesapeake uses but I will say that it is common for operators to hire a bunch of the big firms in an area. They usually have 1 where they send most of their work (sounds like Lemle in this case) and then send small projects to the other firms. As lawyers have strict conflict of interest rules about representing interests adverse to current and even former clients, the goal is to "conflict out" many other firms in the area. This makes it harder for anyone with a fight against the operator to find a competent local lawyer.
Surely they (companies) don't have enough money ... well maybe one super giant ... to tie up all the competent litigators in the country? And surely there are those firms who aren't in it just to "pay the bills" through big company retainers? Surely there is some competent litigator who's in practice by himself that would take on a class action situation?

Then again, it would take some work to find that person if most are responding they have conflict.

GD, beleive me when I tried to find help on another matter I spent weeks trying to find someone who 1) understood what my complaint was 2) didn't tell me they had done previous work for the defense and pled "conflict" It's tough going out there for those not in the "landed gentry" class.
Forgive me if I'm mistaken but I thought the reason alot of the people in Kassi's area and group didn't get a bonus because of some it's held by production of a gas well on land in a separate section leased in 1955. I have family in Kassi's group. Are you confusing the people on Colquitt with the people in Stonewall? Or are we on another "hate CHK rant? because if it is, I'll just move to the next thread.
KB,

I agree. His comments are shameful.

The comments on the story don't seem to have actually read the story.

THE PEOPLE ON GHS KNOW HOW HARD SHE WORKED.

IT IS A SHAME THAT AFTER DOING SO AND BEING DULY RECOGNIZED FOR DOING A GOOD JOB, THERE ARE STILL IDIOTS THAT WANT TO ATTACK IRRELEVANT ISSUES.

THE WORLD IS FULL OF PEOPLE WHO WANT TO KNOCK DOWN THOSE THAT DO GOOD THINGS. OBVIOUSLY OILMONEY IS ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE. YUCK!
I would venture a guess that he is not a "popular" guy. With that attitude I don't imagine that he gets many dates.
Rosebud, I agree. Kassi did a wonderful job of getting information out to as many people as possible. Many people owe her, one way or another, for good leases that protect them and their land.
There were several landowners with 100 plus acres per parcel in Kassi's group who had clear title that signed Agreements to Lease with CHK who did not get a lease nor bonus lease payment because CHK keept saying they were doing title searches from Sept 2008 until a few weeks ago. Several weeks ago they came back and said we can only pay you $3k/acre. Now they are saying we can pay you 3.5K/acre if you accept it this week. CHK is not to be trusted. This land is in Haynesville in DeSoto Parish. Now, other subcontractors working for CHK want us to sign 3-D geophysical survey contracts for the same land and lease our roadway.

Kassi did a fine job for us but the landman for CHK that worked with her for her group did everything they could to break up her group.
