I've noticed a trend of late in the RigData Weekly Rig Report.  There has been a significant shifting of rigs further south in the LA fairway.  DeSoto continues to be the parish with the most rigs and there are 2 rigs running in Bossier and 4 in Caddo.  What catches my eye is the increase in Sabine Parish, 8 rigs where there have generally been 1 to 3.  Including the Comstock rig drilling in the Logansport Field, that's 9 rigs below Mansfield.  For those who are familiar with location by section-township-range, the Town of Mansfield is a good benchmark to divide the play into north and south halves on an east/west line.  Mansfield lies in 12N 13W covering the northern two thirds of the township.

Not far south of Mansfield, the early play lost it's momentum when natural gas prices cratered.  There is a lot of good rock down to at least the 9 North townships that will get some wells this year and give us a better idea of how much room the play has to run.  Those townships could very well contain the best Mid-Bossier reserves so a two for one.  It will be interesting to watch.  Good luck to those in the south.

Anyone have any idea what a 05 well status is. Well 230954 (Cadd0) in my section has this status. This status is not listed in the Sonris Lite list of well statuses..

In the well file the status code number should be in blue, if so click on it.

Thank you...

Skip, I appreciate your help and sharing information on GHS especially in the Sabine and DeSoto parishes. It has been awhile since I have been actively on here but with the activity increasing in Sabine parish I will be getting excited.

Hi, Waltcop.  Things are looking up in south DeSoto/north Sabine.

Is there any activity in the northwest part of Natchitoches Parish?

Paluxy in the King Hill Field.

Thanks, Skip,

Any news about 27-13n-12w or 15-12n-12w?  We get mail about sections that always seem to be 3 sections away from these.

It's like a lottery, Tar Heel.  Chesapeake, the operator of your units, is drilling wells in your general area, Red River-Bull Bayou Field, and has plans for more, none of which are in your units at this time.   Chesapeake is drilling great wells and tends to drill then in pairs for the purpose of keeping costs down.  Even though all the Haynesville operators have aggressive drilling programs, the development pattern is group wells: 2, 4, 6, etc.  So unlike the early years when each section/unit got a well, now there are multiple wells but grouped together in two and less often three sections/units stacked north to south.  There is no way to predict when Chesapeake may decide to drill wells including your sections.  Could be next year and could be years from now.

Ok, Thanks, Skip.

You're welcome, Tar Heel.  Good Luck.  I hope that next notice letter that comes in the mail is for wells in one of your sections.

There has been an uptick in leasing activity in parts of T18N, R16W and T18N, R15W.  Several parties have shown interest.
