The Forestar Com #1H spudded on Friday, last, just south of Yellowpine. It isn't a Haynesville well but it is still good news for the county. Wish them good luck and a productive oil well. They already have a second well permitted and a third planned.

Thanks for the info Rick.

I'm actually surprised that there has not been more chatter regarding this well. It seems to be a pretty interesting to me.

I checked those early 90's wells in Sabine Co at TRRC, and the ones that ultimately produced 200,000+ BBL looked to have production in the 800 boe/day range for their initial months.

So, it seems that this one could likely produce similar numbers - at today's price of around $74 a barrel, that would gross around $15 million over the life of that one well.

Hope we all can be so lucky to have a few of those wells in our own units, plus the HS and BO and any other CV, James, etc Gas reserves to boot.
Hey Rick,

So the report that I posted below yesterday, had the oil production in Sabine Co from '93-Current Date.

Looks like the top 3 wells for the county were:

Stark Unit @ 213,000+
Odom @ 276,000+
and
Needmore @ 522,000+

Yes, it will be interesting to see how the production on this new horizontal well plays out in comparison to these older verticle completions.

Question: What do you see as far as number of wells total in the in-fill plans for those 160 acre oil units?
Thanks for the clarification.

It will be interesting to see if this is specific to that region of Sabine Co, or whether it also might extend to additional possibilities in Shelby, San Augustine and beyond.

Good luck with your prospects.
The Needmore is over near San Augustine County. It's between my Dad's place west of Hwy 96 and the county line. We could hear out across the lake (Rayburn) when they were drilling that one.
Texaco was drilling directional Austin Chalk wells down there in the mid-late '90s Rick.
I'm aware of the difference. They were also drilling horizontals (see 403-30417 in Eli Low, A-34 and W.D. Bates, A-482).
Can you estimate as to how many months this royalty of $32,331.20 would remain in the neighborhood of that amount? What might that 20 acre net owner expect to receive in royalties over the life of the well and how many months/years would that be?
Thanks very much for your response.
That is a great question, T Woo! Since this may be a first ever (in this county, at least) horizontal in the Saratoga, I suspect there is nothing to correlate with or compare to.

Any thoughts, Rick? What is it doing today in comparison to the IP?
Just ran a report query from TRRC and here's what came up for total oil production in Sabine Co from '93 to 2010:

So yes, they were drilling horizontal wells back in the early 90's, so after 15 years or more with the technology changes and the perfecting of fracturing wells in the Barnett and Haynesville, does that not mean there are lots and lots of hydrocarbons to be extracted from South Sabine County? Even with the high cost, it seems the economics would make sense to drill there. And Lacy is. The question is, who else will notice? What the area needs is more Needmores.
Congrats on the results Rick. Those are great numbers.
