When do you think they will be back in Sabine Parish to do more leasing? We have approximately 30 acres which we have been told have natural gas on them by a geologist (don't know how true it is).

There is leasing ongoing in parts of Sabine Parish now. It's never stopped just slowed. Obviously location is important.
Chesapeake has recently filed leases with the Sabine Clerk of Court for S23 - 10N - 14W and S18 - 9N - 13W. Other lessees filing leases recently include Audubon Oil & Gas - S35 - 10N - 12W and S5 - 8N - 12W. and Century Oil - S25 - 7N - 11W.
Be careful leasing with Chesapeake. Make sure you get the proper information from an attorney that can read and interpet the lease. That is the best advice anyone could ever give you.
Jo Ann's advice sparkles with great truth (as to avoiding ever inking a deal with CHK). Even some of the other operators know to stay clear of Chesapeake.
Had one person tell me that you gotta watch CHK because they heard that one lease gave permission for CHK's employees to hunt on that property! LOL! Surely not, but who knows!
I would like to obtain contact info for a landman who can assit me with the land that we own located in sabine parrish. We have property with mineral rights under the lake and additonal acreage adjasent to the lake as well. Not sure of the exact amount but it is in the hundreds of acres.
Thanks

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
