Ray, I too have noticed a pattern of uninformed, inaccurate, and/or bias statements in this thread. Such comments have made me question the validity of the contributing "industry experts". Though I understand that a large majority contributing to this thread are not directly associated with the Oil & Gas industry and I do not wish to discourage their input. I would like to caution readers that I have noticed a number of post that are stated as fact, when actually they are far from the fact.
jeff, if there is some specific comment that you disagree with, by all means state it and explain why. Do you have knowledge of a previous completion by Mainland? Do you disagree that AEC failed to fund it's commitment to 20% of the drilling costs? Do you think that commercial production can be established by a vertical completion in the "Haynesville Shale"?
SKIP,I doubt that you own MNLU shares at the moment as for me I am a modest shareholder just like a whole bunch of guys on this board. Along the years I made good money in the stockmarket and I now live a comfortable retirement in South Florida 50% and Canada 50%. For the last 28 years I invested a good part of my capital in large and small cap oil and gas producers and I like to bet on the knowledge and reputation of the people running those companies. I like very much the risk/reward ratio with MNLU and I trust the board members and the advisory committee members as well
I am gratified to read that you hold the principals at MNLU in high regard and have experience in these types of speculative E&P ventures. I think it likely that much of the poor management decisions and the press that resulted from them belong to the prior principals and would like to think that the appointment of Mr. Atencio as CEO not only reflected a desire by the board for more experienced management but also some recognition on his part that MNLU represented a viable opportunity for him. We discuss a lot of diverse O&G related subjects on this website and have seen a number of penny stock energy companies with a penchant for PR and not much else. I hope that the Buena Vista Prospect is a success. Good luck on your investment.

Tell me about it. I bought SSEY over MNLU about a year ago because of an industry insider tip. OOPS. I forget what fraction of a penny SSEY is worth now. Hope MNLU doesn't end up the same. We very much appreciate your insight Skip. Good luck to everyone.

Geez, Ray,
I thought you didn't have time for this site. You better get back to drilling those cazillion wells that you are drilling.
I have put a hole through the Haynesville Shale in 7000ft of water, 150 miles due south of Mobile Alabama. The geologist and Paleontologist couldn't believe how well it correlated to the Haynesville of North LA.

Mainland Resources, Burkley-Phillips #1 reported 98 days drilling ahead @ 18,237' on 10-29-10.
Jeff-

Just curious what the mud log had to say about that section, if you may comment on it. Understand if you cannot. It could add fuel to the fires of anticipation for those curious, or holding stock( I do ) in Mainland and its efforts on the Burkley-Phillips #1. Not only having a correlative section so far east on trend, but if it had good gas shows-----?????
Well, you understand!

October 25, from ResourcePlay.com Mainland Resources, Inc. is offering 68 term royalty acres for sale in the Haynesville Shale Play in Jefferson County, Mississippi.

The asking price is $64,000 USD:

Click on the map for a larger version:
As of October 25, 2010, Mainland Resources has drilled and cased the well on this acreage to 17,872 feet.

Wireline logs and mud logs have identified potential gas
They have probably used up their drilling capital...??? I am so confused

It sold pretty quick though to be a $4,352,000.00 transaction...

Sources are telling me that it was Skip who bought the royalties in question...
