NARO Louisiana will have two Austin Chalk speakers at their convention in Baton Rouge on May 6-7.  One speaker is a geologist; the other comes from the land side of the AC.  Please see the banner at the top of GHS page to register for this event.  You can also view an agenda of the day and a half convention. 

The only change to the agenda is that Paul Vallhonrat will not be available.  A substitute speaker for the last session is in the works.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
