Hey all,
Wondering if anyone knows about any activity to add new wells in the Bethany-Longstreet Field in Caddo Parish. I got a notice back in January but haven't heard anything definitive.
How does adding new wells impact the whole platte? I've never been clear on this. Do you have a well on your own property to generate royalties (we have one well on our 80 acres) but others tell me that horizontal drilling means that owners included in the entire 640-acre platte get paid regardless of where the well is located. Is that true? And I'm leased under Chesapeake -- did they sell their rights to this platte to Indigo?
Thanks for the help, if anyone has heard any news.

Katie, currently there are 3 Cotton Valley permits in the field for Indigo and 3 Haynesville Shale permits for Chesapeake. All these wells are alternate unit wells. This means that there is at least one prior well in the section/unit. Haynesville units may have a unit well and up to 7 alternate unit wells. Yes, all the mineral owners in the unit get paid for any and all unit wells in their section/unit. You may find more information and will certainly have more members see your discussion if you post it in the South Caddo Group. Also please read Keith's How To Participate discussion.

Thank you Skip!
Thanks, Jay. Ours is, too, and I believe the current unit well is on our property. Any timeframe been talked about?
Would you have any knowledge for BEUSA and their operations in T13N-R15W ? It's difficult trying to locate any information on their plans .
john, BEUSA hasn't drilled a well in LA since a completion in early 2012. Since most of their leasehold has producing wells there is no compelling reason to drill in 13N-15W or anywhere else at this time. BEUSA has no alternate unit wells so they are sitting on a good inventory of proven locations. My bet would be a sale of their Haynesville inventory to a larger operator in the future when NG prices are improved. As BEUSA is a privately held company it would be difficult to find much useful information in the public domain.
Shale drilling and lithium extraction are seemingly distinct activities, but there is a growing connection between the two as the world moves towards cleaner energy solutions. While shale drilling primarily targets…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
