New Electric Gen "Powerhouse" From Companies that Favor NG

"The combined company, which will have a market capitalization of about $3.1 billion, will be called GenOn Energy. It will bring together roughly 24,650 megawatts of electric generating capacity, operations from coast to coast and have total revenue of $4.13 billion, based on full-year 2009 figures"

Mirant uses gas for many of its peak power plants. RRI is using gas as part of its emissions control activities.

Although the majority of the business of these 2 companies is in CA, the Midwest and Northeast, they do produce some power in the Southeast. And I'll take it as a sign that ng is continuing to win favor.
