Since section 9 is inside the boundry of the coal mine, I assume this well will be drilled from section 4?

Correct.  The surface location is listed as Section 4 but the well will produce from Section 9 as stated in the well name.

All perforations will be in Section 9 and mineral interests of record in that section will receive the royalties.  No royalties from this well will be paid in Section 4.

Skip -- How would you rate the Petro-Chem completion in Claiborne Parish, and would these results usually bring continued activity in the area? 184 mcf gas and 127 barrells 49 gravity condensate

treeman, It's a difficult proposition to judge the profitability of any well without knowing the cost.  In this particular case S/N 242297 is an alternate well (the second drilled in this unit).  The unit well, S/N 232503 had initial production of more gas (330 mcfd) but less condensate (45 BCD).  Since condensate is the key to this wells profitability, it appears to be a significant improvement over the first.  PetroChem drills a lot of these wells in this part of N. LA.  I think they are are a reasonably competent operator and the value of liquids is quite good at this time.  I hope they drill more HA Sand wells with good liquids production.

 

You may want to check the production history on 232503 and total up the barrels of condensate produced to date.  The well is coming up on it's fifth anniversary.

Jay,  Wold that make it a profitable well?  Any idea of the average price for condensate of this gravity over that five year period?

Skip, the Spivey Well (232503) has been quite profitable. I had a working interest in this well and serveral others in this area when they were drilled. The interesting thing about the Spivey well was that is was not a real barnburner when it was completed, yet it held up quite well and had payed out when I sold out of that field around 3 years or so ago. I would estimate that that well has grossed around $5 million in its life. If my memory serves me correct, it cost somewhere around $2 million to drill (plus or minus).
