Greetings. I have 140 acres in the southwest part of Ouachita Parish. Does anyone know of any lease offers going on that area?

William, I haven't heard anything regarding Ouachita Parish since some tracts were included in a state mineral auction a couple of years back when Wild Horse Resource Management was attempting to expand the Lower Cotton Valley play further east. If memory serves, none of the Ouachita tracts drew a bid. In the last five years there have been few wells permitted or spud in Ouachita. Here is the list, note the dates. The 2017 well was never drilled, the permit expired. The 2015 well is an Inactive Dry Hole - Future Utility. The Nov. 2014 well was a dry hole.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of) nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
