Petrohawk has submitted applications to drill alternate wells in eight Haynesville Units in Red River Parish.  Although these are not drilling permits they are an indication Petrohawk is planning to begin multi-well development drilling in some areas of the Haynesville Shale.

Also note that Petrohawk plans to develop several of these units with 7 wells per section rather than 8.

Les, Petrohawk has also submitted alternate unit applications in southeast Caddo Parish and northeast DeSoto parish in T15N, R11W, Sections 26, 28, 34, & 35 among possibly others.  We must be seeing the BHP money showing up.
SB, thanks for the information.  Do you recall when Petrohawk made those applications?

Les, the date on the "Applications For Public Hearing" is September 9, 2011 for all four sections, though there are two seperate Applications, which I received a few days apart.  I think this area around the lock & dam is one of Petrohawk's most prolific areas, so I'm not surprised that it is one of the areas they are developing first.

For some reason, they are only putting 5 alternate unit wells in Section 28; 6 in the other three sections.
Les, on 11-601, it appears that Petrohawk has formed geologic units around a fault.  Am I looking at it right?
SB, that was the assumption when they formed these odd shaped units.  The State rejected their first attempt but later approved the unit application based on available data.

SB, thanks for the follow-up.  They may be experimenting with wider spacing like EnCana.
SB, I do not have a good explanation why Petrohawk is planning 6 wells in Section 28 versus 7 wells in Sections 26, 34 & 35 since all this area is within their "crown jewels".  I assume they may be experimenting with a wider spacing for one section.

Spring Branch, do you have copies of any of the unit applications for the DeSoto 15-11 units?

Yes, I do, but I'm technology constrained.   They will show up on Sonris probably next week.

Thanks.  It looks like T15N-R11W is in Bossier and Caddo Parishes, rather than DeSoto.  Is that the correct township and range?

I misspoke; you are correct.  Caddo & Bossier.

IR, attached are copies of the Petrohawk alternate well applications in T15N-R11W.
