Recently I experienced a computer problem that resulted in the loss of a handful of files.  One of those was my master tracking spreadsheet for the entirety of the Louisiana portion of the Haynesville Shale Fairway.  It required many hours of work to rebuild that spreadsheet but it is largely completed.  What I'm still working to restore are my notes on the sections where members own minerals.  Over the years I have offered to help members keep up with activity that impacts their mineral interests.  As we have discussed on a number of occasions, it is important to keep up with new wells in the public record pipeline to help mineral owners make informed decisions.  All mineral owners get a notice letter from a law firm that announces an operator's application for "alternate unit wells".  The is not a "well permit". I refer to them as spacing orders.  The state must approve the location of the perforated laterals that indicate what sections/units a well will be producing before an operator can apply for a well permit to drill.  This step in the process does not require notice to mineral owners.  You don't get a letter.  The only way to be aware that a well permit to drill has been issued is to check the state database, SONRIS.

Each day I go to the database to maintain spreadsheets I use to track development activity and enter that data in a couple of spreadsheets.  I have explained in the past how mineral owners can do this for themselves and will do so again for anyone who is interested.  Since I do this every business day I will note when a well permit to drill has been approved for a section/unit that belongs to a member.  Then I can send them a private website message to let them know that a permit has been issued and whether the permit is effective for six months or twelve.  If you have provided that information in the past and would like for me to contact you when you get a well permit, please send me a message on my private page by clicking on my name in blue.  If you have not done so previously but would like me to include you and your section in my spreadsheet, please do the same.
