I live on 7.04 acres in Bossier Parish Section 20, T17N, R12 W behind Lucky Estates and have not leased at this point. I was contacted in January 2009 that Encana was going to force pool everyone in this section but at this time have not seen any activity. I have also been receiving notices from a local law firm that Petrohawk has applied for proposed units in Sections 22, 26, 27 & 28, T17 N, R12 W.

Today i received a letter from a local geophysical service in Bossier who wants to pay me $175 for permission to conduct a seismographic survey utilizing the Vibroseis or Shot hole method, including the right to ingress and egress for such purposes, across my land.

Anybody got any suggestions because at this point i am going to say no?

Thanks, BAR

What is the name of the seismic company wanting to do the work. Is this a new survy.
Yes it is a new survey as far as i know and the company is Global Geophysical Services out of Bossier City. BAR
Sounds like $25/acre to me. That is about the going rate.
It will only be to your benefit. You do not have that much acreage and the source points will most likely be "buffered" out, leaving the only piece of equipment on your property a receiver line and geophones. Global is out of Houston, the address is to their local office.
Take the money. If you don't they will just shoot around you.
Does anyone know who Global Geophysical Services is working for? Like Bar my family got a request to do seismic. Our lease is about to expire and I am curious if this means activity is on the horizon.
I can't say with 100% certainty but I think this new survey is being shot on a speculative basis. When I ask the Permit Agent with Global Geophysical what o/g company is contracting the shoot, or involved in some way, or possibly even partially underwriting the shoot, I am told that "no one has ever asked that question before" and that he does not have any idea, and that all he knows is that he was assigned my area to get the permits signed. When I ask him if it is a spec shoot, he says he does not think it is a "spec shoot" but does not really know that either.
I also asked if this was a "spec shoot", they said it was, but that PetroHawk has agreed to buy the information. HK has given them form letters to give to HK lessors.
You must have a gift for getting information that I do not have. LOL Thank you for posting that.
He showed me the form letter, but now I wish I would have gotten a copy of it.
His name isn't Darrel is it?
No. It was Joe Brown.
