We will appreciate any insight this site may provide. My family has mineral rights to acreage in Shelby County Tx. It's in Huxley to be precise. In late 2010 we leased the land to Ellora (who was soon sold) for three years. That lease will expaire in late Feb. 2014. We have not yet been contacted by anyone about re-upping the lease.
I do not follow this shale play very closely so can someone advise if it is likely we will be approached to re-lease the land? Is the land in and around Huxley still considered an attractive play? Thanks much.

XTO has a number of permits for wells around Huxley. They would most likely be the operator you would be hearing from for either a new lease or an extension. Are you certain that a well has not already been drilled? If you would post a survey name or abstract number I could look for permits/wells that are proximate to your location.
Our lease is John Edwards A-196. Can you comment on the general state of lease activity in Shelby County. I.e. still a hot area, or has most of the operators moved on? Thanks.
XTO is the only operator active in Shelby County today.
Our lease is John Edwards A-196 in Shelby County. Can you share the general state of lease activity in Shelby County? Are operators still actively leasing or have they moved on to more promising sites? Thanks.
possible!! or they may drill just before the lease is up!! the do this, because in the event they HIT!!, the usually don't have to re-lease--all depends on how your lease was written--read through--thoroughly d
TexGuy------Ellora--- Was sold to XOM which also owns XTO so they are your Lesse which is good---if anyone will drill in near future they will--- Did your lease have option to renew or straight 3 year lease? Suggest you contact their Land Department(XTO) that handles the Shelby area and ask if they will share their plans for your lease for their Cap-Ex should be set thru ealy 2014 for area.
