The following is an updated list of 56 "super" Haynesville Shale wells. To make this list a well has to test at a rate of at least 20 MMcfd with a flowing pressure of greater than 8000 psi. It is difficult to compare the wells on this list because of differences in other factors such as choke size and number of frac stages.

The list is dominated by Red River Parish (33 wells) and EnCana (28 wells) as operator.

Les, it looks like the list is dominated by Red River County!!!!
SB, thanks for the catch.  I have made the fix.  My computer must have been invaded by some Texas bug!
Is the predominance of EnCana and Red River Parish due to RRP being the best area?  Or is it due to the fact that EnCana seems more likely than many operators to open the flow and let their wells rip (and they just happen to have most of the leases in RRP)?
Henry, I believe the combination of acreage location and EnCana's expertise has resulted in their position.  Their choke sizes are similar to most other operators and recognize to make this list the well must have a high flow rate and high flowing pressure.  That is a sign of a strong well and one not flowing at full potential.  Petrohawk and Questar could probably have a few more on the list if they increased the choke size (~ 24/64") on more recent completions but most wells' flowing pressure would drop below 8000 psi if the choke was opened further.  Also, those wells would likely be located in Red River or DeSoto.
Thanks so much

Les, I don't completely agree with your "Super Haynesville Well" methodology.  I think the methodology for the "Hall of Fame " wells list is fine.  In my humble opinion, neither the Working Interest owner, nor the Royalty Owner can find a market for "IP's" or "flowing pressure".  Neither are listed on a Commodity Exchange.  I have reviewed the production histories of the top "Super Haynesville Wells" on your list and there is a wide variance in total natural gas produced during a specific time frame, say after 6 months and after one year of production.  Many of the top wells on your list are making less than 100 million cu ft a month by the 10th, 11th, & 12th months of production, while other wells much further down the list, or not on the list at all are still making over 200 million a month by the 12th, 13th, or 14th months.

In my humble opinion, a well that makes 2.5 Billion cu ft in it's 1st year of production should not share space on a "Super Well" list with a well that makes 50% more in its 1st year.  For that reason the "Super Well" list should be those wells that have produced the most gas in their first 12 months of production and eventually in their first 24 months of production.  A little more work for sure, but a lot more accurate.  After all, gas is what we're selling!

Les, can you please find out some info on a well production for me? The permit # is 241852 HA RA SUB; Benton Johnson 34H
Lalla, there is no information to indicate this well has yet been completed and placed on production.  I will let you know if see any test information for this well.
Thank you Les.
Les, where did you get the info on the well I asked you about? I went to the Sonris website and it has not been updated since Jan. We were told that the well has been producing and I am not sure how true that info is.
